Residents of Ruaka town in Kiambu County have raised alarm over the deteriorating state of security in the area and its surrounding environs.
Writing to this blog on Sunday, 12 June, a worried inhabitant of the fast-growing town complained about a recent wave of robberies targeting ordinary citizens walking home from their jobs between 7 pm and 8 pm.
The source noted that some victims are reading malice in the increasing incidents which mostly happen along Rosslyn Slaughter Road, opposite Equity Bank, which is hardly 100 metres away from Ruaka Police Station.
When the attacks are reported, officers stationed at the post offer no tangible remedy to tame the rogue muggers.
In fact, they seem to have turned the crime into a money-minting scheme where victims are strictly advised to pick an abstract form from a designated cyber cafe across the street.
“Hi, Nyakundi,
I wish to bring to your attention rampant robbery incidents at the Ruaka slaughter stage opposite Equity Bank.
They rob people between 7-9 pm.
Surprisingly, the Ruaka Police Post is just 100 meters away.
Once a victim reports anaambiwa ako careless na security yake, then advised to pick abstract at a cyber opposite Joyland, then it’s filled and the victim anaambiwa that hiyo ni kawaida he/she should take precautions.
On behalf, we believe there’s a well-organized group working closely with officers at the police post.
Do your due diligence and point it out loud,” the source writes.
