Writing to this blog on Saturday, 11 June, a staffer who sought anonymity uncovered how the current EACC administration led by Commissioner Twalib Abdallah Mbarak has promoted tribal bias at the same body which was ironically established to fight such vices in our society.
This has led to a myriad of irregularities in job promotions and transfers where they give members of his native Somali community unfair favouritism over other employees.
Most are assigned to influential and high-paying positions without proper papers, while they rig qualified candidates out.
According to the source, agitated personnel at the EACC have been voicing their concerns in hushed tones over fears of being victimized.
Some have vowed that if things don’t change soon, they might be forced to gather courage and blow up the scandal.
“Good morning Nyakundi,
I work for EACC and want to highlight an issue that everyone is afraid of saying, our Director is of Somali origin and does a good job, I won’t lie, but the issue is, his community is hugely favoured, be it promotions and transfers where they are put as team leaders yet most of them don’t have papers.
We have papers but positions yao ni priority.
Kindly highlight.
Staff wanaogopa kusema but it’s in the corridors and soon the world blow up” the source writes.
