The submission shared below was presented to us by a concerned follower that helps divulge into the recent controversial suspension of a female black American lady at the International School of Kenya (ISK) in Nairobi.

The vocal teacher identified as Brittney Caldwell enjoyed a presence on social media where she heavily documented most aspects of her life, including her job at the ISK.

Within her first few months in the country, her Vlogs had grown quite popular on YouTube where she had fans hooked on her career journey.

But as explained by our source, all this changed a few weeks ago when she was unceremoniously sacked from her job for reportedly showing concerns and sharing her views on the running of the school.

“Hi there Cyprian.

I trust you’re well.

Been a silent follower and would usually not engage much – but there are certain things in society which rub me the wrong way, like aspects of discrimination such as racism against blacks in a majority Black Country.

Case in point: There have been double standards at the International School of Kenya in how they’ve been treating their staff.

A black American lady was hired straight from the US where she was teaching, as part of the school’s drive for Inclusion and Diversity (trying to add a coloured person to the teaching team).

Since she began working at the school, however, she has been receiving treatment that is ‘different’ from how other white teachers and other staff have been receiving.

Brittney Caldwell, who has come to love Kenya was unceremoniously sacked from her job for showing concerns and sharing her views on the running of the school.

The school even refused to give her her last paycheque and kicked her out of the apartment she was staying in (which the school was paying for) forcing her to now stay at an Air BnB.

All this without fully paying her dues.

Ever since she came to Nairobi about 9-10 months ago, Brittney has been Vlogging about her life while in Kenya and not necessarily about her job even though she would mention a few aspects of it.

She has over time, won a few local subscribers including myself.

I was shocked to learn about her experience.

For instance, a few months ago, while still new at her job, one of the white teachers lost her phone while clubbing at a Nairobi club.

The same teacher posted about it on the school’s community group, calling Kenyans ‘cockroaches’ for stealing her phone (Brittney shared screenshots on her YouTube vlog).

The staff is still happily working at ISK and is the one who showed Brittney the door.

I do not know Brittney on a personal level- I’m just her follower who loves watching her vlogs and has followed her journey since she was still new in Kenya, sharing her experiences to mostly African Americans living in the US who were curious about Africa.

If you want to follow the particular blog in which she shared details, here it is.

In preceding vlogs, she would make random comments about her experiences but not so much in detail as she was trying to engage a lawyer at the time.

Hopefully, you get to see what I’m trying to share here and let people know through your platforms that Kenya has no place for such kind of discrimination.

Looking forward to your feedback and thanks for all that you do.

Peace and light!” the source writes.
