Poor Country: David Ndii’s Radical & Practical Proposal Against Coronavirus

$

0

Renowned Economist David Ndii has given his suggestions in winning the war against coronavirus that appears to be a practical and great way to save the poor masses from the elitist Jubilee plans.

“Allow people to go to rural areas!”. is the rallying cry of the top 100 most influential economist in the world.

Government of Kenya (GoK) has been warning poor people against travel not taking into account that they can’t survive in Nairobi even for a week without going to work as they live hand to mouth.

“You people! Many informal sector workers in Nbi live hand to mouth. Mjengo people cannot survive 2 wks in city without work. They are not going to sit and starve? People will go home. Govt needs to face reality mitigate risk e.g test and clear people to travel. Think dammit!”, David Ndii wrote on his Twitter account
He continued, “Actually, since we don’t have state welfare system like rich countries, we ought to see rural homes as our safety net, facilitate those socio-economically vulnerable to travel (after testing), ease urban congestion and economic burden. Rural life has better social distance; This is a message endorsement from my friend out in Kiplombe via Whatsup: “Say that again. I am over 65 at my rural home (Camp David or Mar-a-Lago). My social distance is on average 700 metres, cost of food is sub 1300 a week for a family of 3. People go RURAL”
Perhaps it is a great thing to consider the many poor masses depressed by Jubilee looting machine that has not considered the jobless, and the people who live hand to mouth.
Screen them, let them go to their rural areas and follow up on them from there.
David Ndii was responding to support for Rift Valley Police Commissioner Natembeya’s message for people to stay put where they are in the time of Covid-19.
Police, as usual, are not that smart, once again proven.

Photos: How Covid-19 Can Spread From Kenya Railways Bus Terminus

Dirty matatu terminus such as the Kenya Railways Matatu terminus is a health hazard even before the coronavirus stroke Kenya.

Below are pictures that I took months ago. The place hasn’t changed a bit.

The Railways Matatu terminus is used by people going to Rongai, Ngong Kibra and worse still the rural areas who use the Easy Coach buses.

Must Read: Greedy PwC In The Face Of Coronavirus Threat

It is a congested, wet and dirty area that might prove a health hazard.

The patient zero came from Rongai and if she/he used matatus then our goose is cooked in the next two weeks. A spot check of the countermeasures on defeating coronavirus such as handwashing, and using hand sanitizers are a joke at the matatu station.

Overcrowding is also a normal occurence here.

Cnyakundi.com urges Kenyans to self-isolate.

Cnyakundi.com is asking the govt to close down travels or screen them and allow them to travel to rural areas, as for Nairobi, shut down everything.

KRA Yet To Quarantine

Cnyakundi.com calls upon the police to observe the law and not be bought by a few handouts from people who want to silence bloggers at this critical time.

Coronavirus: KPMG Bosses Exposed

$

Benson Ndung’u, Chief Executive Officer of KPMG East Africa

After this site exposed PwC and KRA, a staff of KPMG, an audit firm has come forth to share the same predicament.

However, KPMGs is very sad as the bosses stay at home but force staff to come to work, exposing themselves to Covid-19.

Hey Nyakundi,

Keep my identity anonymous. Please burst KPMG kenya, it just forced its employees to continue working like it’s business as usual.. These private auditing companies have very greedy partners who demand their staff to keep working hence endangering lives of their families while they themselves are quarantined at home. It’s so unreasonable of them, yet it is possible to work from home.

Another staff member independently supported the above by stating the following:

I have seen the piece you have written about PWC. It’s still business as usual for KPMG staff while the management is working from home. The auditors are required to go to client’s offices which puts them at risk of acquiring the covid19 virus. We have a couple of auditors who jetted back from outside country engagements without having self-quarantined for the required 2 weeks and they are already back at work.

KRA Yet To Quarantine

For these firms, it is possible ot work from home.

Come to think of it, hasn’t there been emergency mitigation measures in all firms in Kenya written so well in their Human Resources Manuals that should be in play at this point in time?

All firms before the Covid19 pandemic were boasting about their preparedness, yet when the disease hit, everyone is taking about falling into hard economic times.

KPMG, if your staff stay at home, you reduce the chances of worsening the pandemic conditions in Kenya and giving our medical personnel time to do away with the virus. Same for KRA, and PwC, etc

Shut down those offices, profit before humanity has never been a great thing.

Another staff of KPMG wrote about the bad work environment at the firm as follows:

I would like you to expose KPMG Kenya for treating its employees inhumanly. The audit department currently works from Monday through Sunday starting morning hours all the way to midnight almost every single day. They are not compensated for this extra hours they put in and it has taken a toll on a couple of employee’s health leading to mental breakdown, hbp and other pressure /stress related ailments.

Kenya’s Time To Pay For Its Sins Has Come!

$

This is a brief article on putting things straight and in comical perspective on why good governance is great and goes along way.

Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto were re-elected, of course by the IEBC servers in 2017 to govern Kenya  till 2022 when Uhuru will retire, maybe, and Ruto will try to battle it out with whoever will be on the ballot for the presidency.

As we are now tackling a crisis of unimaginable consequences, following the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, the government that came to power with over 98 per cent of the votes is facing a moment in time where it is great to remember Lenin’s statement, “there are decades when nothing happens and then there are weeks where decades happen”.

Considering the prayer that were conducted for the country last Saturday, and the presidential directives that were issued today over those who fail to self-quarantine, that they’ll face the full force of the law. There’s something that is emerging.

How will a government that failed to obey court orders to open the IEBC servers enforce this directive?

How will a government whose officials fail to obey court and parliamentary summons even enforce such a directive?

In a state that has worked so hard over the last 6 years to destroy the rule of law, how can anything even be done perfectly? (it took the intervention of a KQ staff to point out the China and Kenya had lied about suspending flights).

How many times have travel bans been given?

1. Uhuru issued one on March 15th

2. Yesterday Mutahi Kagwe repeated it complete with a new date.

Is there need to repeat if the govt really is in control and follows the law of the land.

Through anonymous tips and online sources, Kenyans have been made aware that certain high-level govt officials travelled to countries that are struggling to contain coronavirus pandemic.

Worse still, the Deputy Governor for Kilifi County Gideon Saburi travelled came back and failed to self-quarantine and now a host of leaders who came into contact with him, some old enough to be wiped out by the first cough, are shaking in their pants.

Online sources show a lot of leaders came into contact with the reckless Kilifi Deputy Governor, through a chain of meetings.

We state their names here for purposes of education only, and we urge that they self-quarantine for 21 days.

It is alleged that Kilifi Deputy Governor met his boss Amason Kingi, Kingi met Mombasa Governor aspirant Sulleiman Shabhal who in turn shook hands with ODM Party Chief Raila Odinga who also interacted with President Uhuru , William Ruto, Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka etc during the national prayer sessions.

Lock this country down to save it

cyprian Nyakundi, Blogger

Now, how do we arrest these people if they fail to follow the self-quarantine directive?

Anyways, by not seeing them in pubic, it might mean they have self-quarantined.

However, some like KRA Commissioner General, it was reported to us that he and some of his top guys went to work as usual after coming from Covid-19 inested countries.

Will he be arrested?

My point is, in the whole drama where the govt wants only to arrest and gag bloggers, while leaving the real carriers of the disease roaming free, it is the Kenyan people that’ll suffer.

A government that has never upheld the rule of law, a regime that killed and maimed protestors who were calling for electoral reforms and good governance has finally reached the end.

The wrung to the ladders of incompetence, corruption, murder, deceit, lies and harassment has finally run out.

Where will Jubilee run to?

From now on I guess it’ll be easier to arrest small people and not those like KRA CG, PwC and KPMG bosses who continue to flout quarantine directives.

Kenya goes to lockdown, Kenya economy collapses.

The wrung to the ladder of cartelic behaviour has finally run out.

Coronavirus might be the moment we have all been waiting for.

A final nail on the elitist, illiterate and ignorant Kenyan leadership.

We thank Bildad Kaggia!

{If we don’t quarantine, no matter how powerful we are, we are going to be in deep shit where a lot of people will die, no leader will be allowed to fly out for treatment, it is even a good time to remember what Medical personnel, who were thrown in prison, were crying for a few years ago. Revamp our systems. It is not easy, but it can be done. First, start by following the law, or appearing from now on to do it. It might help.}

Flawed Economics: How The Covid-19 Pandemic Is Exposing Kenyan Business Cartels

$
0
0

In the headlines, the last three weeks have been nothing other than the Corona Virus. Even Raila’s beloved BBI has been put in the back-burner, as the country grapples with the realities which lay ahead.

The dollar is rising to past 120 limits, the price of fuel is going down, tourism numbers are dwindling, and Central Bank has reduced the base lending rate. Everything seems to be working against the economies of this world, as the market re-adjusts to the realities of the day.

Every sector seems to be suffering, and even the Kenyatta family empire is said to have suffered a cumulative loss of 1.2 billion so far.

CAPTION: Uhuru’s family business is staring at a 1.2 Billion loss so far. We hope the delay in announcing a rescue package is not occasioned by them trying to figure out how to recover this loss from our taxes.

Surprisingly though, out of sheer witchcraft or extra-terrestrial powers, two sectors continue to “boom” despite what is obviously a catastrophe staring at them.

The hospitality and real-estate sectors have conspicuously continued wallowing in their delusions of grandeur, operating as if its business as usual.

Travellers who landed yesterday were shocked to hear that Boma Hotel, itself facing liquidation for debts incurred through the mismanagement and corruption of former Kenya Red Cross boss Abbas Gullet and Ginadin Kariuki, was charging a whopping $200/night for self-quarantining passengers.

What school of economics did Kenyan cartels attend? We have seen many instances where hotels would prefer to shut down than adjust their prices downwards, with offers and promotions which would entice clients.

We can all see that flights to the country have been blocked, meaning tourism in the country is more or less dead for the next three months, so why would hotels and airlines continue pegging their prices high, as if there are tourists from eutopia arriving?

On Facebook, Bonfire Safaris is pushing adverts of some remote tented camp in far-flung Laikipia at 13,000 per person and 26,000 for a couple. Which marijuana are these people smoking? And do the same companies expect Government to offer favourable bail-out terms to them, yet they clearly want to stay out of business?

SICK! A tented camp in the middle of nowhere in Laikipia is charging rates as if this is high season in the pre-Covid era.

Meanwhile, real-estate cartels have gone full throttle, hoping to get clients at the delusional price of 16 million for an apartment in Kilimani. Are these people hallucinating?

If real estate cartels in Nairobi relied on foreign buyers from South Sudan and Somalia who launder their proceeds of crime by buying apartments here, do they imagine that the same in-flows will be forthcoming in light of this global pandemic?

In light of the debate on a rescue package by the government including tax incentives, we propose that the tourism/hospitality industry plus the real estate sectors be overlooked because they clearly have enough cash reserves to sustain them during this dark period.

RUBBISH! In the midst of a pandemic, real estate conmen are still basking in their delusions of grandeur.

If Uhuru doesn’t want chaos and anarchy in the form of looting and civil war in the country, he must prioritize incentives to the food sector, by zero-rating all food imports, subsidizing agriculture and flooding those industries with cheap loans.

The price of basic commodities must go down by 75% if he is to survive this period without any hitch.

Don’t say we didn’t warn you!

After All Bloggers Are Gagged, It Is Time For Kenyans To Act

In the time of crisis around the Spanish Flu which wiped out 50 million from the face of the earth in 1918, a survivor William Sardo Junior shared how people were falling inside their houses dead like insects.

“The Crisis came within the first 2-3 hours of your sickness. You either survived or you were dead. When the flu epidemic hit – somebody would ring let’s say they rang the doorbell at 6:00 am in the morning and said my mother just passed away. I want you to take care of the funeral service. That – before the sunset on that day, the whole family would be gone”, William Sardo said.

Another person, John M, Barry, through an interview US Fox new, said that the most regretful thing was that government’s around the world lied about the disease dismissing it casually as ‘it’s just the ordinary flu by another name”

By the time the government was gagging blogger Robert Alai over questions he asked on the deaths of people in Mombasa over Covid-19, it means something was happening.

Today, I have received a summon to go to the nearest police station. I will honor it at 3 pm at the Central Police Station.

It was just a question which needed a response, but out of fear and incompetence, they created another fear.

In due time, the only way Kenyans can get information about Coronavirus in this country would be among themselves, shared in Telegram (most secure) and other means.

The government is once again failing on PR.

Kenyans must demand good governance!

“One Person Has Recovered From Covid-19”, Uhuru Kenyatta’s Full Speech

$

0

The speech by President Uhuru Kenyatta on 25th March 2020 over Covid-19 pandemic in Kenya.

Fellow Citizens,

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic is an unprecedented global health crisis that has so far manifested in over 184 Countries and Territories.  Globally, over 400,000 cases of the virus have been reported.

Here in Kenya, it has been 12 days since our first confirmed case of Coronavirus.

Our Nation’s response has been comprehensive and multi-faceted; with the Ministry of Health leading the charge by announcing policy measures and behavioural protocols, geared towards limiting the spread of this disease.

These policy measures and behavioural protocols continue to dramatically change our way of life.  Additionally, various State Agencies and Private Sector Entities have complemented our efforts by implementing further measures, which we appreciate and applaud.

Fellow Kenyans,

Yesterday, Kenya had 25 confirmed cases of the Coronavirus.  Today, we have received confirmation of an additional 3 new cases, bringing our national tally to 28 confirmed cases.

Amidst this trend, I am pleased to announce that numerous other suspected cases have been found to be negative after rigorous testing.  More importantly, we have today registered one recovery of the patients.  This is a clear indication that we can and we will beat the virus.

Many more persons, both Kenyans and Foreigners, remain under close monitoring under either self-quarantine or compulsory-quarantine; measures which we have taken to ensure the safety of all our People.

I wish to assure you all that as a Government, at both the National and County Levels, we are implementing strict evaluation and monitoring protocol, designed to proactively seek out and test persons who may be carriers of this virus.

I also wish to assure you all that we are continuously enhancing our testing and quarantine capacity on a day-to-day basis, as supported by our development partners and international organizations.  We are grateful to Kenya’s friends like Jack Ma, who yesterday donated testing kits and other equipment’s.

We are and we will remain ahead of the curve.

Fellow Kenyans,

In recognition of the extra-ordinary nature of this global tragedy and its enormous local effects, and conscious of the solemn duty of the Government to guarantee the enjoyment of social, civil and economic rights; my Administration has made and will continue to make targeted state interventions to cushion every Kenyan from shocks arising from COVID-19.

I recognize the anxiety that this pandemic has caused millions of Kenyan families; fearful of what the future may hold for them and their children. And the possibility of job losses and loss of income weighing heavily on their minds.

In order to protect jobs for our people and to provide some certainty for both employees and their employers, I, as your President, ORDER and DIRECT as follows:

That the National Treasury implements the following immediate reliefs and increase disposable income to the people of Kenya, through:

  1. 100 % Tax Relief for persons earning gross monthly income of up to Ksh. 24,000.
  2. Reduction of Income Tax Rate (Pay-As-You-Earn) from 30% to 25%.
  3. Reduction of Resident Income Tax (Corporation Tax) from 30% to 25%;
  4. Reduction of the turnover tax rate from the current 3% to 1% for all Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs);
  5. Appropriation of an additional Ksh. 10 Billion to the elderly, orphans and other vulnerable members of our society through cash-transfers by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, to cushion them from the adverse economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic;
  6. Temporary suspension of the listing with Credit Reference Bureaus (CRB) of any person, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMES) and corporate entities whose loan account fall overdue or is in arrears, effective 1st April, 2020.

The National Treasury shall cause immediate reduction of the VAT from 16% to 14%, effective 1st April,2020;

That all Ministries and Departments shall cause the payment of at least of Ksh. 13 Billion of the verified pending bills, within three weeks from the date hereof.  Similarly, and to improve liquidity in the economy and ensure businesses remain afloat by enhancing their cash flows, the private sector is also encouraged to clear all outstanding payments among themselves; within three weeks from the date hereof.

That the Kenya Revenue Authority shall expedite the payment of all verified VAT refund claims amounting to Ksh. 10 Billion within 3 weeks; or in the alternative, allow for offsetting of Withholding VAT, in order to improve cash flows for businesses.

That Ksh. 1.0 billion from the Universal Health Coverage kitty, be immediately appropriated strictly towards the recruitment of additional health workers to support in the management of the spread of COVID-19.

In that regard, I further direct the Ministry of Health, the County Governments and the Public Service Commission to expedite the recruitment process.

In sharing the burden occasioned by the present global health pandemic, over the duration of the global crisis and commencing immediately, my Administration has offered a voluntary reduction in the salaries of the senior ranks of the National Executive, as follows:

The President and Deputy President – 80%;

Cabinet Secretaries – 30%;

Chief Administrative Secretaries – 30%;

Principal Secretaries – 20%

I call on the other arms of Government and tiers of Government to join us in this national endeavour, by making similar voluntary reductions; which will free-up monies to combat this pandemic.

7.            Further to the guidelines issued encouraging State Agencies to establish and implement frameworks for staff to work from home;

8.1          I hereby order and direct that all State and Public Officers with pre-existing medical conditions and/or aged 58 years and above, serving in Job Group S and below or their equivalents, take leave or forthwith work from home,

excluding personnel in the security sector and other essential services as outlined in the circular issued to the Public Service on 16th March, 2020.

Fellow Kenyans,

8.            The Central Bank of Kenya has additionally rolled out the following Measures:

9.1          The lowering of the Central Bank Rate (CBR) to 7.25% from 8.25% which will prompt commercial banks to lower the interest rates to their borrowers, availing the much needed and affordable credit to MSMEs across the country.

9.2          The lowering of the Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) to 4.25 percent from 5.25 percent will provide additional liquidity of Ksh. 35  Billion to commercial banks to directly support borrowers that are distressed as a result of the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

9.3          The Central Bank of Kenya shall provide flexibility to banks with regard to requirements for loan classification and provisioning for loans that were performing as at March 2,2020 and whose repayment period was extended or were restructured due to the pandemic.

9.            I have re-organized the ordinary calendar of Cabinet, its committees and key State Agencies so as to apply a whole-of-government approach to the COVID-19 Pandemic, and to foster enhanced responses to the same.

10.          We have further introduced close co-ordination and collaboration with the County Governments; in addition to the establishment of sectoral Working Groups to more effectively and expeditiously implement action-points.

Fellow Kenyans,

11.            On behalf of a grateful nation, I extend our heartfelt and eternal gratitude to our Medical Professionals and Health Workers, for their exemplary work that is the backbone of our continuing successes in limiting COVID-19 within our Borders.

12.          I also wish to recognize and thank all Kenyans serving in critical and essential service sectors, for their excellent efforts which have ensured the continuity of our supply-chains and the provision of critical and essential services.

13.          To honour their hard work and sacrifice, it is incumbent on every Kenyan to support the efforts of our Medical Professionals, Health Workers, Critical and Essential Services Providers, and the Government as a whole by reducing movement and congregating in large groups.

14.          To that end, the National Security Council has sanctioned and caused the issuance of a Public Order Number 1 on the Coronavirus Pandemic, with the following key aspects:

15.1        That effective Friday, 27th March, 2020; a Daily Curfew from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. shall be in effect in the territory of the Republic of Kenya, with all movement by persons not authorized to do so or not being Medical Professionals, Health Workers, Critical and Essential Services Providers, being prohibited between those hours (The full list of Critical and Essential Service Providers is annexed to this Statement); and

15.2        That with immediate effect, the management of the Kenya Ferry Services is vested in the National Police Service, the Coast Guard and the National Government Administration Officers (NGAO).

Fellow Kenyans,

Social Distancing is now our new norm, it is our new way of life.

We reiterate that the most effective way to limit the spread of the virus is through basic changes in individual behaviour and hygiene.  We have recently experienced cases within our country where transmission was from our political and religious leaders who unfortunately did not heed the guidance by the Ministry of Health on self-quarantine and social distancing.

I therefore once more call on everyone to:

  1. wash hands frequently with hand sanitizers or soap and water for at least 20 seconds;
  2. cover our nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing with tissue or flexed elbow;
  3. avoid close contact with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms.

These measures will slow the spread and ease the effects of COVID-19 on our Nation, and allow our Health Care System and our First Responders to most effectively deal with the Pandemic.

Fellow Kenyans,

Our Nation has always overcome and emerged from seemingly insurmountable challenges stronger and better.

Defeating this Pandemic demands cooperation, collaboration and common action.

More than that, it calls for unity and shared understanding, strict adherence to the protocols issued by the Ministry of Health and other relevant Agencies, and the adoption by every person of measures that will contain the spread of the virus.

Every time we have been faced with adversity Kenyans have coalesced together and pulled each other out of the situation.

Our nation shall prevail, the aspirations of our destiny shall stand. Together we shall be victorious, Pamoja tutashinda. We can and we shall defeat the Coronavirus Pandemic.

God Bless each and every one of us, and God Bless Kenya.

People Not Numbers, Humanity In Time Of Covid-19 – By Jerotich Seii

$
0
0
Jerotich Seii

Below is a proposal by Jerotich Seii, a public defender, intellectual and social critic.

Begin

The arrival of COVID-19 in Kenya was inevitable. It has rudely exposed weaknesses in our health,
transport and infrastructure systems not least due to graft and unresponsive policies. It is a perfect storm. However, in the face of this pandemic, all sides of the divide must step up. Life first.

Listening to the Ministry of Health briefings since the first case was reported and confirmed, I am concerned by the largely “elite gaze” that deploys a language of enforcement that is used to coerce WaKenya into compliance with regard to screening, testing, self-quarantine and treatment. Threats of arrest and jail only inspire fear, fake news and knee jerk and even violent reactions.

We want a government response that is rights based, empathy-infused, inclusive and practical. A government that realises that however urgent, people always come first.

The government should not lie or withhold crucial information from citizens who are expected to
cooperate fully. If one lies – by omission or commission – one is not fit to lead an emergency response.

For example: what happened to the 239 [Chinese] individuals who arrived in Kenya on the China
Southern Airlines on 26 February, 2020? Said persons have since disappeared without a trace. Court orders were issued and ignored; 14 days have come and gone; and we still don’t know how they fit into the spread of COVID-19. Lies and preferential treatment erode trust & willingness to cooperate.

Most WaKenya rely on daily earnings to support their families. This “kadogo” economy means that a single day of missed work results in no food, water, medicine, fuel and rent. Telling WaKenya to stay home and maintain “social distance” or “self-quarantine” sounds like Greek when eight people share one room. Mores so to traders who rely on human contact for sales. Think of the mama who sells you pre-cut sukuma wiki. Think of the construction worker. Think of the matatu driver. Think of “Mama Fua”. Think of blue collar workers. Proposing a total lockdown without a concrete plan to care for those who will immediately lack food, belies a callousness that will ultimately backfire.

Parents are also dealing with children who are unexpectedly home from school. Precious few and fortunate households might afford the luxuries of E-Learning but the vast majority of students are idle, hungry and anxious. What about unemployed youth? Who is listening to them?

Global economic shocks do not resonate with the ordinary MKenya whose cost of living is prohibitive in any case. The government should immediately suspend VAT, excise taxes and levies on food stuffs, essential goods and services including electricity, water and fuel. This will have a significant, immediate and positive effect. The government should take the revenue hit in order to save lives.

Medically speaking, take services to communities. Create – for example – zones and establish medical hubs, where people can seek emergency medical support without resorting to public transport and inevitable shoulder rubbing that COVID-19 thrives on. Decongest existing facilities that will not be able to deal with an exponential increase in the numbers of infected. The assignment of additional existing medical training centres might not always be responsive to the spatial realities of the pandemic. Consider setting up rubb halls (large tents) that can serve as field hospitals complete with triage, testing, isolation and treatment centres. Consider protocols for handling the mass fatalities in a worst case scenario. Otherwise, we will find ourselves precariously perched atop a public health powder keg.

Consider those who are already ill and on other treatment regimes requiring ARVs, insulin, chemotherapy or dialysis, for example. Consider pregnant and lactating mothers. Consider those living with disabilities. Consider the elderly. Consider the young.

Consider tracing systems that are less about surveillance and aggression, and more about community centred understanding of people’s mobility in order to monitor the movement of COVID-19.

Consider the curative aspects of our vast and rich Indigenous Knowledge Systems.
Consider volunteers, medical personnel and other professionals whose physical, mental and emotional energies will be heavily taxed. They must have protective gear, psychosocial support and commensurate compensation.

Free food distribution for the most vulnerable – for starters – must be at the centre of this emergency response. Without which, WaKenya will continue to leave their homes in search of work and money to purchase basic supplies for their families. If I cannot afford to sit in the house with my children, I will not watch them suffer and go hungry. I will go out. Even the somnolent middle class is secretly worried about day 10 of lockdown, when food and water finally run out and the costs of basic goods have gone through the roof.

Distribute oil, salt, flour, pulses and commodities including sanitary towels. Systems can minimise attrition, double-dipping and criminal resale, an unfortunate by-product of emergency operations. Next to food is water. Most WaKenya only have access to [cartel-run] water sales. Provide clean water free of charge. Provide soap free of charge.

Ditto electricity; without which, essential domestic and public services will be impossible to maintain.

The Diaspora – heavily taxed without representation – is starting to reel from the global effects of the pandemic. Remittances will likely not flow as usual. The government should consider a one off cash transfer at the beginning and end of the acute phase of the emergency.

The importance of civil military coordination cannot be overstated. The disciplined and armed forces need to understand that if a lockdown is announced, theirs should never be about terrorising WaKenya. This is a medical emergency and not an attempted coup. It would be wonderful to see the uniformed forces erect rub halls; reassign medical personnel; offload supplies; support crowd control; escort women and children to their homes; protect food, water and medical supplies; deter criminality; and ensure the prevention of sexual exploitation and violence – something that is unfortunately prevalent during emergencies.

This may all read like common sense because it is but there is a multi sectoral science behind it.

Having been in humanitarian emergency response for a number of years, our most successful actions can be traced back to people-centred approaches in preparedness and response. Without a doubt, rapid responses come with a significant budget. During such times, extreme bureaucracy should be suspended and replaced with ethical, accountable and auditable Standard Operating Procedures.

I urge complete transparency around the use of resources, for example, Philanthropist Jack Ma’s donation of 100,000 masks and 20,000 test kits. Same for the Sh6 Billion World Bank facility, and all other funds allocated towards Kenya’s COVID-19 response. Spend it on WaKenya. Not on Eurobondstyle “catch up” payments or on humanitarian industrialist schemers such as food importation cartels.

Ultimately, issuing directives from an ivory tower is a failing proposition in the race to curb the spread and mitigate the impacts of COVID-19. Humanitarian emergency response is about people, the love of life and its preservation.

Good evening fellow residents..

It is with very deep sadness that I share with news of the demise of our good neighbour Mr. Maurice Namiinda of house 106.

As has been already broadcasted on the TV stations, Mr Namiinda marks the first death of a Kenyan from this deadly Corona.

The family is under very close monitoring by the MoH and are currently quarantined here at their house.

We condole with them. But we request utmost respect to them as a family as they face this very unfortunate turn of events.

We also request calmness and strict continuity in the preventive measures that we are all already very much aware of.

A few of us are in touch with the family as well as a the hospital/MoH and any updates will be shared accordingly.

😓😓

#CurfewinKenya: Senator Orengo Speaks About Police Brutality

James Orengo, Siaya Senator and Senior Counsel

SIAYA Senator James Orengo whose famous words “Governments eat their own people. This government will punish you more than it will punish me”, paints the picture of what is happening tonight in Kenya has spoken against police Brutality during the curfew.

Kenyans have shared tens of videos showing police assaulting unarmed civilians due to he curfew that began today at 7 pm.

The senior counsel condemned the violence meted on civilians stating:

“A state of emergency does not by itself ineluctably limit or suspend the Bill of Rights. There must be legislation. In any case national security must be pursued in compliance with the rule of law & human rights.Police must not enforce curfew with might but love & fight Covid-19. The government has put reasonable measures to deal with the pandemic. As patriotic citizens we must all play our part as a civic duty. My friend Mutahi Kagwe is showing great leadership. But we need our people on board to have a formidable army against coronavirus”, Orengo wrote on Twitter

Kenyans have expressed concerns with the way the police are handling the curfew. Most of them wonder why the police who are supposed to implement the curfew to contain the spread of Covid-19 are brutalosinf people who will then need to fill hospitals to treat their injuries, yet the whole point is to have people avoid crowds and stay at home.

LSK Condemns Police Brutality, To Challenge Curfew

Lawyer Nelson Havi during his installation as LSK president

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) through its president lawyer Nelson Havi has condemned the police brutality and plans to move to court on Monday to challenge the curfew.

Nelson Havi, through his Twitter account posted the following:

Penalty for contravening a curfew is a fine of not more than Ksh 1,000 or imprisonment for not more than 3 months, or to both. National Police Service (NPS) have no right or justification whatsoever substituting the penalty with corporal punishment. Their action amounts to aggravated assault.

We condemn the actions of the individual police officers who have assaulted suspects. The Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Co-ordination of National Government who was declared to have contravened Article 10 of the Constitution should take personal responsibility and resign.

Members of the public are requested to document all incidences of aggravated assault by the police and forward the same to the Law Society of Kenya (LSK). We will take action against the said officers and or their superiors in charge of the commands where the offenses are being committed.

In the meantime, LSK will move to Court on Monday to challenge the curfew which is not only unconstitutional but has been abused by the police. It is evident that Covid-19 will be spread more by actions of police than of those claimed to have contravened the curfew.

CASUALTIES OF WAR: BETTY KYALLO MELTDOWN SIGNALS TOUGH TIMES FOR SLAYQUEENS AS CORONA TOLL BITES

$

TOUGH TIMES: Betty Kyallo and Stivo Simple Boy.

As the country grapples with escalating infections largely due to the four corrupt Government officials (Fred Matiangi, James Macharia, Sicily Kariuki and some obese schemer called Rachel Omamo) who allowed a Chinese plane to land at JKIA in February, over and above the lack of closure of our airspace to foreign traffic, Kenyans are counting other Covid induced-tolls threatening the entire existence of our social fabric as we know it. Slay-Queens have gone conspicuously quiet on social media, unable to post snapchats of IG videos of their exploits, which primarily consisted of expensive dates, fine dining and 5-star clubbing experiences.

One Congolese handle @MistaChampagne drew our attention to this state of affairs, questioning “Badada” and why they’re suddenly off the radar, despite their noisy presence on social media in the recent past.

In previous days, social media was ungovernable as ladies flaunted their imaginary wealth, many who live in absolute squalor but floss on social media as if they’ve been raised on generational wealth. It just goes to show how married men continue plundering the futures of their families in pursuit of vanity, as they underwrite the delusions of grandeur for these ratchet side-chics.

One very famous Instagram whore going by the name of Haentel Wanjiru is currently under quarantine as she is a carrier of the dreaded Corona Virus, acquired from her clandestine affair with Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi. A fraudster of epic proportions, Kingi continues to plunder the resources of peasant-riddled Kilifi County, while bankrolling ladies of questionable lifelines, in a bid to mask his inferiority complex derived as a consequence of his short man syndrome. He uses money meant to elevate the lives of peasants in Kilifi, to entice Nairobi socialites into sleeping with him. He doesn’t understand that the amount of money he drains with Haentel can help in poverty eradication measure in Kilifi, where 17 children recently died due to lack of medical attention at the County run health facilities.

CORONA VIRUS CARRIER: Governor Amason Kingi’s IG hoe has been forcefully quarantined. She can only share old stock photos from previous trips.

For your information, if you have interacted with Haentel, kindly self quarantine because she is the type of person who can cause an exponential havoc due to her large following and sexual demand. We hope the Government is monitoring her calls and movements to avoid the spread of Corona, and the areas inhabited by these IG hoes (Kilimani-Kileleshwa-Westlands) seems like the epicentre of Nairobi’s outbreak.

This addiction for cheap thrills is invertedly fuelling the greed for money, thus draining our coffers with utmost prejudice. Only yesterday did the media beloved John Lonyangapuo, emerge the the laughing stock of the country after his nudes were leaked by some slay queen he was bedding for Kshs. 500,000 for a measly orgasm. A whole professor getting played by a street ratchet is proof that education is no longer the key. Do better Lonyangapuo. Unlike Githeri Media who get thrilled by your cheap theatrics, the rest of us know you’re just a massive fraud. Sasa unakula Malaya and just the other day you were asking donations for hunger relief in your poverty-stricken county? Terrible.

All the money you see by socialites flaunting on social media comes from your taxes, its a pity that the financial “gurus” at KRA have never thought of connecting the money trail.

The truth is that the hoodrats who set standards on social media live below the poverty line, and most can’t even show you a fully furnished bed-sitter, let alone apartments. They were misled by older veterans that likes and views will eventually translate to social capital which can be converted to equity, but Corona has come and they’re now left scrambling for scraps and pretending to go natural as they post photos without fake hair or make-up.

DARLING OF THE MEDIA: Governor John Lonyangapuo is now using county funds to ruin homes and sleep with people’s wives. Shame!

That said, we are also witnessing next-level meltdowns, almost rivalling the Chernobyl or Fukushima nuclear power plant meltdowns. We always believed the hype that Betty Kyallo is a strong personality who has grown thick skin from all the trolling and drama that never seems to leave her side. But a convergence of psycho-sexual deficiencies seems to be taking a toll on her as she went on a rant, clearly inebriated with some cheap liquor that she is not used to consuming. With the sudden scarcity of sponsors who spoil them slayqueens with choice drinks like Moet Champagne, your favourite IG models are back to the basics, hooking themselves up with Konyagi and Captain Morgan.

Due to the Corona Virus, Betty was forced to close her beauty parlour creating the first level of pressure in her life. Secondly, her Somali sponsor has been forced to retreat back to his wife and kids in quarantine, lest his philandering ways exposes them to the dreaded sickness. Don’t forget that Somali’s live 40 people in one house, thus escalating potential collateral damage, With an absentee sponsor and a close business with 20 retrenched staffers, the pressure seems to be building and the walls are closing in.

The same scenario is replicated in numerous locations across the country, as dependants of sponsors retreat back to poverty to eat gather and drink porridge as was aptly narrated on a viral video by Dee Cherono.

Married men have now retreated back to their cocoons and because most of them fear their wives and love their children, they cannot risk exposing them to the virus. We hope that they can utilise this period to re-invest time and resources to their families instead of diverting very necessary capital to slay-queens whose money, unfortunately, does little to grow the economy. Their consumption patterns are geared to escalate capital flight, by buying designer wear, drinking foreign drinks and make-up mostly imported and with insignificant impact on our domestic industries.

Alternatively, married men can continue bankrolling their side-dishes and we will see what that investment will yield in the long run.

Management Of Covid-19 In North Korea

Kim Jong-Un

Amid fears the world has courtesy of covid-19, the oppressive nation of North Korea seems not to be bothered by the pandemic.

Chairman Kim Jong Un on Sunday cared less what the world thinks of it. Under his watch the totalitarian regime launched two short range ballistic missiles which flew from Wonsan into the waters between Korean peninsula and Japan.

While other nations are castigating DPRK for their inappropriate action at a time when the world is battling coronavirus, supreme leader Un doesn’t give a rat’s ass what other folks outside his territory think.
Some experts say that Kim’s fearless act of firing the missiles was meant to show that he’s in control notwithstanding sanctions led by US.

In a state-run newspaper Rodong Sinmun, DPRK proudly claims that no cases of covid-19 has been detected within its borders. In fact it’s praising its scientists for massive tests carried out on suspected individuals which have turned out negative. The State media is depicting outside leaders as retarded snakes with brains the size of chicken clit while painting their ruler as a short guy with brain the size of 10 supercomputers.

Well, other nations are not buying this claim of zero covid-19 case given the ravaged public health systems and given that North’s neighbors have confirmed cases.

It’s being said that the no nonsense government lacks medical supplies to combat an outbreak.

It could be possible that reported and confirmed cases of covid-19 is a top state secret held tightly by Kim Jong Un and his loyal doctor servants. Any leak of these secrets would invite firing squads and no one is ready to take a chance with it given the type of military execution that would follow.

Maybe there are no tests conclusively being carried out hence the zero covid-19 cases.

World

The reported cases from the coronavirus pandemic has surpassed 1 million, over 210,000 have recovered.

Coronavirus has killed over 50,000; over 30,000 are currently critically ill.

Unsung Heroes: Celebrating Security Guards Of Kenya

$

By Guest Writer.

These are no ordinary times.

Circumstances around us have brought with it what most of nations never foresaw. In the midst of gloom, in all the unmatched wave of confusions there is a group of people who are heroes but no one has actually noticed or noted them.

The government asked most employers to facilitate employees to work from home. Those whose services require physical presence in workplaces and who can not work from home have had to make arrangements to see to it that they operate on shift basis. It’s no longer the usual 8 working hours.

The state requested employers to release their human resources early for the sake of not breaking the curfew times brought about by the need to prevent/contain the spread of covid-19 in Kenya.

Working hours have thus been shortened. Employers are bracing themselves for reduced income. This will translate to reduced disposable income for employees as well. Story for another day.

Those in informal employment have been hit the most. The govt asked people to stay at home. Some people are staying at home. No income, no savings. Police on the other hand have made it their duty to ensure that hustlers are not found congregating in the name of working. Owners of capital who engage labourers on a wage basis have also been forced to scale back their operations for fear of the known.

And their is a special group of people who should be lauded. The private security guards, in this case those who work at night. Some of these individuals are giving it more than 100%.

Before coronavirus, their typical working hours ranged from 5/6pm to 6/7am. Now things have changed. It’s no longer a 12/13hour shift for them. Working hours have had to be extended for the sake of humanity. Private security sector is a 24hour economy and most employees in this sector work in shifts. Change of guard to begin/end a shift happens everyday.

Day time guards hand over the baton at every evening to night guards. Night time guards hands over the baton to day time guards in the morning, everyday. This is a cycle that goes on 24/7 365. But adjustment and self sacrifice have had to be made in the wake of the pandemic holding the world by its eyelashes.

The curfew requiring individuals not to be outside between 7pm and 5am with exception to a group of special people has brought with it an unanticipated change.

Most of these private security guards walk to work. Their meagre pay can not give them the luxury of taking a PSV. If s/he takes a PSV how will s/he eat, how will the kids find something to eat, how will other bills be paid?

To get to work in time, they have to walk for more than one hour to work. That makes it more than two hours of walk to and from work. Don’t forget that these guards live far from town, as the only places their insulting pay can afford rent isn’t near town.

Before the curfew, a guard who was to ‘relieve’ his colleague at 6pm had to leave the house at around 4pm. This has changed. No guard wants to see their colleagues getting home past 7pm as this might bring untold repercussions courtesy of the police. Some guards have had to tighten their work schedules.
Now a night guard leaves the house as early as 2pm, fastly walks to work. He wants to ensure that he arrives in time, around 3:30pm or 4pm, to make their colleague(s) leave for home early, not for the dark to fall on them. Forget about private security guards being among special group who the curfew gave an allowance in time. Some police have frustrated some guards and this, occasioned by what happens past 7pm in the hands of law enforcement officers, something had to be done by unsung heroes.

Today I choose to celebrate night guards, specifically one by the name Ogutu Omondi who works for Total security surveillance Ltd and is stationed in Upper Hill area. In these trying times and despite having an underlying medical condition he’s making a self-sacrifice to see that his colleague(s) beat the curfew times and in time be home with their families. With no mask or any PPE, he hits the road everyday just to keep a smile on his family’s face.

You can imagine arriving at your workplace at around 3:30pm and leaving for home the following day at around 6:30am, walking for another 1.5hours to 2 hours to get to your shanty at 7:30,8am. You get to bed at 9am and by 2pm is up again and enroute to work for a change of shift(guard). Less than 5 hours of sleep in the house!

This kind of sacrifice is what restores my faith in humanity.

Not so many people would notice this.

Big up guards.

The Kenya Revenue Authority has been accused of trying to cover up the death of a senior manager who passed on yesterday over Coronavirus, CNYAKUNDI.COM can confirm.

Mr. Antony Gichia, A domestic Taxes manager passed on yesterday after testing positive for #Covid19 a viral infection that has shocked the world.

We can confirm that Mr. Antony Gichia arrived from Italy in late February or early March for official functions even though Italy was a hotspot.

Today, the Kenya Revenue Authority Deputy HR Commissioner sent an email claiming that Mr. Antony Gichia died of a short illness raising eyebrows as to why KRA is fighting hard to hide the news.

Staffers that this site independently spoke to raised fears and what the Kenya revenue offices fumigated and an assurance from the ministry of health that all is well since they no longer trust their boss Githii Mburu.

The Kenyan media cannot do the story because they get ads from KRA hence serious control on any news regarding the taxman.

‘We don’t care, Just Die of Coronavirus’, Part Time Lecturers Told

Covid-19: The Sad Plight Of Part time Lecturers

Some part time Lecturers have written to cnyakundi.com asking for their plight to be aired so that the management of the universities can at least have mercy on them.

They term the lockdown of universities due to the Covid-19 pandemic as having cause great distress and worry to them just like everybody else, however, to add salt to injury, one said that universities seems to have wanted the shutdown so as to escape paying them their salaries.

“I had requested the university for payment long ago before the virus erupted but they simply delayed processing until a directive was issued to close the university”, said one lecturer.

The bad part is that even after the university admins seemed to have gotten their wish of a lockdown, a finance manager in a local university went ahead to show the extent of their ravenous behavior when called and asked about money.

“Now I have called the finance person and the director wishing for my payment and pleading with them due to my financial situation all in vain. They last paid me in Feb 2019. I have evidence in terms of recorded conversations between me and the finance guy who also admitted that the university does not worry or care if we die in the pandemic”, he said.

Most of the lecturers have responsibility that go beyond their immediate families and are in dire need of their pay. The universities should pay now ands stop these cat and mouse games. We are all in this together.

“Imagine they owe us several years payment and they would rather we die in the pandemic so that they remain with our money. Please we need to make the universities administration to pay part-time lecturers just like everyone else was ordered by the president to pay their workers so that they may face the pandemic prepared”, one lecturers says.

Mitchell Cotts Freight is being investigated by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) over the tender scandal.

KRA Hires Black-Hat Trolls To Slander Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi

$
0
0

The Kenya Revenue Authority has engaged the services of a black-hat PR agency to slander the editor of this site after we exposed the taxman for covering up the death of a senior manager who died from Coronavirus.

In a memo by the deputy HR manager, the Authority informed their staffers that the late Antony Njoroge Gichia passed on after a short illness even though he died from Coronavirus.

Mr. Antony Gichia, A domestic Taxes manager passed on on 2nd and was buried in less than 48 hours by Covid19 nurses.

Antony Gichia Burial

Despite the story being huge, the Kenyan media gave it a wide berth confirming that the Kenyan media is now under strict control.

Mr. Antony Gichia arrived from Italy in late February or early March for official functions even though Italy was a hotspot and was among the official that the editor of this site had whistleblown about after they refused to quarantine.

Today, Trolls were unleashed to discredit the editor of this site and slander although we always back up everything that we post.

More than 20 Kenya Revenue Authority officials are in quarantine as the Commissioners General spends sleepless nights to control what appears on the media about the authority.

A few weeks ago, we also reported that the authority was yet to quarantine and don’t know the status as at now.

It is normally not our position to respond to struggling bloggers who extort corporates, lying to them that they can launch smear campaigns against Cyprian Nyakundi because he has nothing to lose. He is not answerable to any power and only seeks to inform Kenyans about the information sent to him anonymously.

But for the people this website has exposed, they are answerable to their shareholders, to the regulators, to the laws of the land, to their clients and to posterity. Paying struggling bloggers to launch smear campaigns isn’t confronting reality; it’s escapism.

We are monitoring the situation at KRA and will keep updating.
