Why Troubled KAA MD Alex Gitari Is Under Siege

$

Alex Gitari

KAA MD Alex Gitari

Troubled Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) Managing Director Alex Gitari is a man under siege.

Reports have emerged that Mr Gitari is a key target of a renewed bid by powerful State House forces to push out individuals who played a role in supporting Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s failed presidential bid by mobilizing to offer monetary assistance to his campaigns that raked in billions of taxpayers’ money.

According to sources, Gitari and the General Manager of the HR department Anthony Njagi practised gross misconduct by pumping millions of shillings into Azimio La Umoja at the expense of staff welfare.

Insiders further revealed that whenever the two remitted money to Raila’s campaign kitty, they benefited from heavy kickbacks.

It is also alleged that Gitari and Njagi landed their respective lucrative positions through the influence of former powerful Interior PS Karanja Kibicho and the outgoing Transport PS Paul Maringa.

At one particular time, former Transport CS James Macharia complained regarding circumstances under which Gitari and Njagi manoeuvred their way into office.

The fresh troubles against him come at a time some whistleblowers have written to a local newspaper with a view of exposing a scheme by a cartel at the National Land Commission (NLC) working in cahoots with officials at the KAA to unlawfully claim airport land worth Sh296m.

In an excerpt from the Daily Nation on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, the informers allege that the said cartel is targeting the Mombasa International Airport by claiming to own an access road through the airfield’s runway.

“Your excellency, these are trying economic times. The Kenyan government cannot afford to lose tens of billions of shillings to graft cartels and their proxies. To achieve your most noble promise to the Kenyan people, this must stop!” the notice reads in part.

Workers at KAA have also been lamenting impunity at the hands of Gitari and Njagi which has left them heavily demoralized.

Additionally, the duo has been accused of negotiating collective bargaining agreements with the workers’ union only to dishonor such deals.

A case in point is when they allegedly negotiated with the workers union for a 13 per cent pay rise in salaries but as workers were waiting to harvest at the end of the month in 2016, KAA broke their end of the promise and defaulted.

It is imperative to note that ever since the KAA board of directors confirmed Gitari as the MD effective July 8 2021 for three years, the institution KAA has been linked to several scandalous deals under his leadership.

This included a plot to fast-track the deal to hand over Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to Kenya Airways.

Kenya Airways had submitted a proposal to KAA to run the airport for 30 years while paying concession fees to the operator.

In another scandal, KAA was preparing to pay a Chinese firm billions of shillings for no work done on a second terminal at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

It took the intervention of the public investments’ committee of parliament, and it is before this committee that Gitari denied that there was any intention to pay Anhui Construction Engineering Group Ltd and China National Aero-Technology Engineering Company.

The project was cancelled in March 2016 after a launch by Uhuru that was to cost Sh56 billion.

It was to expand JKIA’s capacity to 20 million passengers but it turned controversial after cartels dominated the whole process.

The Chinese firm was demanding Sh17.6 billion as compensation for the termination of the contract and had been paid Sh4.2 billion, whose recovery MPs said is in doubt.

Gitari’s name was also featured in the mystery that surrounded Covid-19 gear that China billionaire Jack Ma donated to Kenya at a time Covid-19 was ravaging the country.

The Kenya Civil Society group, while protesting the theft, noted that Gitari in his capacity as KAA MD should have come clean about how the consignment was stolen since he was part of the government dignitaries who received the donation at the airport.

Land Grabbing Syndicate in Malindi, Kilifi Counties Exposed

Renzo Quaciari (Far Left)

A crime syndicate involving foreign nationals and corrupt government officials extorting businesses and grabbing land in Malindi and Kilifi counties has been exposed.

The syndicate also involves lawyers, who are used by foreign nationals, mostly Italians, to transfer land and company shares illegally and deny legal owners access to their properties, particularly in parts of Malindi.

Circulating information suggests that Renzo Quaciari, an Italian national, is behind the syndicate.

Mr Quaciari is the director of Denman Properties Limited, a local firm incorporated in the country.

In one instance, Renzo allegedly worked in cahoots with rogue officials at the Registrar of Companies to delete the names of his two Italian colleagues – Marco Alimonti and Pusterla Giuseppe – all directors of Holborn Properties Limited from the register.

In the process of attempting to take illegal possession of the firm based in Malindi, the Italian also reportedly duped the Registrar of Companies that Marco and Pusterla had resigned and their shares transferred to him.

In a letter dated February 3, 2022, written through lawyer JK Mwarandu and Company Advocates and Commissioners for Oath, Marco who holds 200 ordinary shares in Holborn Properties Limited said he came to find out that he was no longer a shareholder nor a director of the company in December 2021.

He maintained that contrary to what was indicated in the Registrar of Companies register, he never transferred his shares to anyone and neither had he resigned from the company as a director.

In the second case involving a firm Denman Properties Limited, the Italian national was said to have defrauded the two directors Marco and Pusterla by illegally transferring their shares and submitting a forged letter to the Registrar of Companies purporting that the two had ceded their stakes and tendered resignation as directors of the company.

The two renowned foreign investors in Malindi have since maintained that they never resigned nor did they transfer their shares.

The two also are co-directors of Bayview Properties Limited and Paddington Investments Limited, both based in Malindi and which were also affected after the crime syndicate invaded them in the extortion ring.

Giuseppe Pusterla who also owns Casuarina Commercial Centre Limited and Antiochia Limited has also lost his two firms to the Renzo syndicate after his shares were illegally transferred to unknown people and his directorship forfeited without his consent.

Sources familiar with the crime syndicate confirmed that Renzo has the tendency of using his foreign colleagues to register firms involved in the property business in Malindi but later he turns against them transferring their shares illegally.

In the above cases, Renzo allegedly waited for the victims to travel outside the country before initiating the evil plan.

Sources say that Renzo would reportedly call other shareholders telling them that the Kenyan government had put them on red alert and that they would not be allowed to travel back to Kenya.

He later allegedly manipulated the companies’ shares to his benefit after he forced his victims out of the companies.

Ex-GDC Staffer Assaulted At Work Cries Out For Justice

Justice delayed is justice denied.

This has been the case with Hellen Njoki, a former employee at the Geothermal Development Company (GDC) who was reportedly assaulted at her place of work in July 2020.

To date, the case which was filed at the Nakuru Central Police Station has barely made any progress and the suspect, one Richard Ochieng remains on the loose.

The victim alleges that her former bosses at GDC have colluded with the Nakuru Regional Police Commander to ensure the matter is swept under the carpet and never sees the light of day.

Running out of options, she is now considering using other legal means to pursue justice.

Through her lawyers at Nancy Njoroge, Kairu and Co. Advocates, she issued a 14-day notice to the Nakuru Regional Police Commander, seeking a response with reasons why the office has failed to act upon the incident reported over 2 years ago, failure to which she will instigate legal proceedings against the department.

In the letter dated 14th November 2022, her lawyers expressed disappointment with the fact that ever since the report was filed, no investigations were conducted, which subsequently cost their client her job at GDC.

“Our client’s incessant pleas to have the matter investigated by your officers have not borne any fruits. The police have failed, refused, neglected and or are adamant to carry out investigations and arrest the assailant who assaulted our client the same having been reported vide OB NO. 39/07/07/2020 and OB.29/12/01/2021,” the letter states in part.

Adding: “In light of the foregoing, we bring to your attention the fact that your officers’ inaction contravenes their oath of office and the law. Let us kindly have your prompt response on the status of these investigations.”

Writing to us on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, the victim lamented that she is yet to receive a response and is now contemplating the next course of action.

“Hi, Nyakundi.

I am Hellen Njoki, a former employee at the Geothermal Development Company.

I got assaulted while at my workplace and the OCS Nakuru Central Police station has been colluding with my former bosses kukanyangia hiyo story.

I am now tempted to use other legal means to find justice.

We have done a formal complaint to the regional police commander in Nakuru and we haven’t received any communication,” she said, attaching the letter below.

Nairobi County Employee Wilson Nashon Kanani: He doubles up as the owner of the popular 1824 Club along Lang’ata Road

High Court Judge Lady Justice Esther Maina on Tuesday granted orders sought by EACC under a Certificate Urgency freezing Sh48m held by Wilson Nashon Kanani, an employee of the County Government of Nairobi, to allow EACC to finalize the investigation of the employee’s unexplained wealth.

Mr Kanani, who earns a monthly net salary of Sh55,000 received suspicious Sh506,397,460 between January 2016 and October 2022, through bank accounts in his name, the name of companies associated with him, his family members including his spouse and his minor children.

Aside from his job at City Hall, he doubles up as the owner of the popular 1824 Club on Langata Road.

“The court has prohibited him (Kanani), his agents and servants from withdrawing, transferring, disposing of, wasting and/or in any other way dealing with funds held in his various bank accounts and from transferring, disposing of, wasting and/or in any other way dealing with two high-end motor vehicles,” said the judge.

According to EACC, Kanani’s duties at the county include regulation of outdoor advertisements, monitoring and surveillance of all outdoor advertisements and calling advertisers to comply with approvals and payments for advertisements.

Other assets linked to the accused include a house in Phenom Estate Langata, a residential house and rental premises in Busia, an apartment in Langata NHC and an apartment in Kahawa which are all suspected to have been acquired using proceeds of corruption.

“He is associated with five companies Wilman Auto Invests, Wilman Auto Invests (Logistics), Willy Walla International Limited, Wilcoreg Limited and Regineez Enterprises Limited which are reasonably suspected to have traded with the Nairobi City County Government,” EACC said in court documents.

Safaricom’s glaring hypocrisy in the Maxine Wahome saga

Safari Rally Champion Maxine Wahome

Maxine Wahome’s saga has exposed Safaricom as a double-dealing bitch that practices woke culture.

Woke culture ideally comes from rabid feminism which ultimately destroys the world by ‘giving mean people a shield to be mean and cruel, armoured in false virtue’.

In March 2021, Radio Presenters Shaffie Weru, DJ Joe Mfalme and Neville were sacked by Homeboyz Radio for asking the wrong question.

The trio has asked if women are to blame for being attacked in regard to an event that had taken place earlier.

They were discussing a court case in which a man was accused of pushing a woman he had met on Facebook out of a 12th floor window on their first date.

Shaffie Weru, DJ Joe Mfalme and Neville.

Shaffie Weru later explained that it was the pressure from the sponsors of the show and radio station and the attacks that the companies were getting from social media that saw them shown the door.

The pressure was majorly from Jane Karuku of EABL who has been accused of multiple crimes as per exposes that have been carried by this blog.

But here we are, the world has gone full circle.

Maxine Wahome reportedly assaulted Asad Khan, leaving him for dead

Safaricom sponsors Maxine Wahome

Mr Khan is said to be in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) while his assaulter still enjoys ties with Safaricom Plc.

It will not be shocking if we also learn that Safaricom paid Maxine Wahome’s cash bail of Sh100,000.

The sacking of Shaffie Weru and the other two was very quick.

It is a culture fermented on the back of feminist anger, the Nairobi Corporate Cartel enjoys that very much.

They shout and act; applying the laws selectively.

Mostly, males receive the short end of the stick.

Kenyans know this and have been taking: Take a look

Why is Safaricom associating with a person accused of Gender Based Violence?

If Maxine Wahome was a man. You know what would have happened to him by now!

Safaricom, what’s your relationship with a person accused of GBV?

Family Gives Update On Asad Khan’s Condition Following Alleged Assault By Girlfriend Maxine Wahome

Top rally driver Asad Khan is fighting for his life in one of the city hospitals after his girlfriend, Maxine Wahome, who is also a popular rally driver, stabbed him.

Asad Khan’s family is now requesting blood donations after his girlfriend, famed rally driver Maxine Wahome, allegedly stabbed him into a coma.

In a statement sent out to Kenyan media houses, the family thanked individuals who had already donated blood to Asad, but added that more was still required.

Asad, a rally driver, is currently undergoing treatment at Avenue Hospital, where he was admitted after being transferred from Nairobi Hospital following the incident.

“We, the family of Asad Khan (Kalulu), would want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who came forward to donate blood for Asad Kalulu.

He is still in critical condition and struggling for his life,” the statement seen by cnyakundi.com reads in part.

“At this time, we would like to ask all friends and well-wishers to please keep him in their prayers. For his continuous treatment, the hospital team at Avenue Hospital ICU requires 5 pints of blood group A+ or O+.”

Wahome, Asad’s girlfriend, has since been released on Sh100,000 cash bond pending the outcome of the alleged assault probe.

On December 12, 2022, she was arrested at an apartment in Kilimani when Asad’s brother, Adila Khan, reported the crime to the police after being told of the occurrence by the property management.

Senior principal magistrate Bernard Ochoi was told on Tuesday, December 13, that the suspect inflicted a stab wound on her boyfriend’s ankle, causing him to lose a lot of blood.

The police further told the court that the matter was reported to Kilimani police station and when they rushed to the scene, they found Maxine in the house looking disturbed.

Maxine refuted claims that she stabbed Asad and claimed that he hurt himself as he was attacking her and, as a victim, she needed protection.

Safaricom PR collapses in Maxine Wahome Saga

Peter Ndegwa: both the mainstream media and social media influencers have fled / are hitting the company. Maxine Wahome’s issue is just the latest to show the collapse of a formerly well running PR machinery

Safaricom has fallen.

And Maxine Wahome is the latest to depict that; in fireworks splendour.

She has opened the can of worms that has been leaking for months now.

But let’s not mix issues here.

Safaricom bosses risk jail over Sh7.7 million unpaid insurance claim

The above headline has had millions of views and with it, those in the know are asking how did it reach the mainstream media.

Safaricom has had a well-guarded image for some time now, but under the leadership of Peter Ndegwa, things have gone to the dogs.

The mainstream media, which has given cases of intellectual property theft a wide berth, is suddenly interested in court cases that touch on Safaricom.

It is clear to see that all is not well with the giant; even on social media, Safaricom influencers seem to have been dropped and these days, they take turns to punch the Telco.

Both the mainstream media and social media influencers have fled / are hitting the company. Maxine Wahome’s issue is just the latest to show the collapse of a formerly well running PR machinery

Oxygene MCL, the Public Relations company that handles Safaricom’s brand image has been on toes these past few months trying to quell fires.

They’ve barely succeeded.

The latest to show that they have failed is the above headline: Safaricom bosses face contempt in Sh7.7 million insurance claim. A story carried by Nation Media Group (NMG).

On the social media space, Maxine Wahome’s attempted murder case has opened a new can of worms.

Fallen image

Maxine Wahome, the new girl in the block, became the first African woman to win WRC3 Category during the WRC Safari Rally Kenya in 2022.

The 26-year-old woman was sponsored majorly by Safaricom Plc.

In that good month of June, there were rumours that the whole win was faked. No one looked deeper.

But that’s not the point.

Safaricom’s glaring hypocrisy in the Maxine Wahome saga

The point is Oxygene MCL is currently holding its chest trying to put out fires brought about by calls by Kenyans online for Safaricom to act.

Safaricom’s hypocrisy is shining in the Ms Wahome saga.

The rogue Telco has not released any statement condemning the Gender-Based Violence meted upon another by their champion and image carrier.

The PR firm Oxygene is at pains to put out the fires, coming hot in the heels of the court case where Safaricom bosses are risking jail term over their contempt of court.

Ephantus Mbogo Njuki wants directors of Safaricom including the chief executive officer Peter Ndegwa, Dilip Pal, Winfred Ouko, and Linda Muriuki among others jailed for six months for refusing to surrender Sh7.7 million compensation money as directed by the court.

This will come as a reprieve for all those who have lost their intellectual property to Safaricom through theft.

Where is the statement?

Safaricom statement is too late by many hours.

In the March 2021 saga involving radio presenters Shaffie Weru, DJ Joe Mfalme and Neville. The telco was quick to act as the trio lost their jobs immediately after making fun of a woman who was pushed from 12th-floor balcony by her boyfriend.

Kenyan media condemned them for promoting GBV.

A video is currently circulating online showing a pool of blood allegedly belonging to Asad Khan.

A statement by Safaricom has not yet arrived; which lend credence to the application of rules selectively by the Telco.

Their PR firm, Oxygene has a lot to answer, some bosses having been accused of sexual immorality within it. But they are still serving. We can deduce why the statement has delayed.

EABL too has gone silent on the matter.

Wasn’t Jane Karuku’s company one of those that the Shaffie Weru, DJ Joe Mfalme and Neville under the bus?

Their silence is deafening.

Does The Mirage still shame tenants that fail to pay service charge?

The Mirage | Westlands, Nairobi – Mirage Towers is a 12-storey, three-tower commercial space next to Kempinski Hotel

Kenya’s real estate is an overrated bubble waiting to blow.

Running a tenancy is hard enough since some clients are sent from hell.

How does one recoup their investments in the concrete and mortar jungle, when half of the highrise buildings are empty?

In 2019, I once passed by Mirage Towers, then the beautiful tri-towers, beautifully imposing near the Villa Rosa Kempinski Hotel in Westlands.

The 12-floor building had a myriad of tenants, notably the shared office spaces under the Nairobi Garage.

I stumbled upon a shocking list, well placed on the sides of the lifts, shaming tenants that had not paid their service fees.

“Service Charge Shamelist as at 30th June 2019” it screamed.

For me there were two wrongs, first, how could Bonham Management Limited do this to the building’s clients?

Secondly, how could the management of those companies mentioned fail to pay the service charge, some amounting to over a million shillings?

Mirage shame list

Was it expensive? – Karecha, the editor wonders.

Thirdly, where was the fallout that someone who had not paid for two quarters was listed with one who had not done so for over 15 quarters?

Nairobi is hard, I tell you.

Does Mirage Towers still do this shame list or have they stopped?

Three years later, I still wonder.

Have a lovely afternoon.

Mike Sonko decries poor Safaricom MPESA Services

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is the latest to be affected by a growing problem of Safaricom being ‘broke’.

“Hawa mpesa siku hizi wako na kaujuaji nafkiri pesa imekuwa mingi mpaka wakaanza madharau. Imagine I have a balance of 4792/= and 27k fuliza balance I have been trying to send kitu kidogo kidogo to hustlers but imekuwa ikikataa since 4 pm upto now”, he tweeted 2 hours ago by the time we went to the press.

Over the past years, we have shared concerns by Kenyans over the deteriorating service of the rogue Telco.

MPESA is the latest in our series of articles on those complaints.

CAPTION: Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko

Danger ahead

In 2016, a National Treasury report warned of the dangers of having one Telco control the mobile money markets.

In brief, the Treasury’s Budget Policy Statement (BPS) said that a technology disaster affecting the M-Pesa-dominated mobile transactions is a fiscal risk, placing the money transfer systems among other potential threats to the economy that are watched keenly by policy wonks.

The authors of the report predict that an M-Pesa outage would cause loss of revenue — direct excise tax and corporate tax by firms running the systems — and reduce confidence in the services.

That was the first time the mobile money transfer system featured among the fiscal risks, indicative of the strategic importance it has acquired in Kenya’s economy.

Former Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko’s screenshot

The BPS noted that various financial products have been leveraged on the M-Pesa payment channel, increasing the inter-linkages between the technology and the banking sector.

READ: Broke Safaricom now forcing clients to redeem Bonga Points

“If this system was to be compromised, the impact would be substantial considering the linkages and the corporate tax revenue for government,” concludes the BPS.

Cracks are emerging

Since Peter Ndegwa took over, internal boardroom wrangles directly hit the Telco’s service provision.

Complaints online and offline were off the hook.

The cracks are emerging over years later as complaints over the cost of MPESA sending and withdrawals, lack of service, slow service, and numerous service downturn have increased.

Is South Sudan Eliminating Journalists Who Leaked Salva Kiir’s Video?

President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit is seen in a viral video peeing himself in public while opening a road project on Tuesday.

President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit is seen in a viral video peeing himself in public while opening a road project on Tuesday.

This week, a video which went viral online showed President Salva Kiir Mayardit of South Sudan urinating on himself at a public function, to the dismay of his aides and military officers nearby.

The incident took place during the recitation of the national anthem.

Unfortunately, because the event was broadcasted live on television, they could do nothing to rectify the embarrassing situation.

Salva Kiir Mayardit, 71, is believed to be suffering from a urinary tract infection, which is common in older men.

The viral video has elicited mixed reactions from the international community, with many social media users expressing opposing viewpoints.

Some also accused the cameramen of doing a dirty job by disgracing their president, while others said they did the right thing by exposing the President as medically unfit to lead a country.

Amidst the controversy, unverified reports emerged on Friday, December 16, 2022, that the journalist who reportedly shared the scandalous video clip allegedly committed suicide.

“The unethical journalist who shared the video of the President was found to have committed suicide this afternoon in his residence.

According to his note he left on the table, he blamed his friend who shared the video with a former J1 photographer who lost his job in a bitter way.

The decease listed the names of people who deliberately escalated the video and blamed himself for negligence of showing it to a friend.

He lastly asked for forgiveness and prayer so that he gets comfort in eternity,” said a Facebook post that was widely circulated in South Sudan.

This immediately sparked fears of a possible homicide disguised as a suicide.

“This means that South Sudan has liquidated the journalist whom it suspected of being the source of the video clip in which Salva Kiir peed on himself. It is their MO to make official homicide look like suicide. Sad,” one person noted.

But hours later, the news was flagged as misinformation by a Nigerian social media personality who confirmed that the image of the alleged suicide originated from his country and not South Sudan as claimed in the Facebook post.

“This is a lie! The guy in this picture commented suicide in Nigeria because he was owing a lot of debt. There are videos on social media where he was apologizing to his wife before he committed suicide,” Oluleye Adewuyi tweeted.

Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu is the latest trending topic on social media.

Last night, the seasoned politician and baby mama to ‘Muugithi’ star Samuel Muchoki, alias “Samidoh” caused drama in Dubai when she showed up at his concert uninvited, forcing bouncers to intervene the situation.

The whole drama started when Nyamu went to where Samidoh was seated and forced herself on his lap, despite the presence of his wife, Edday Nderitu.

Edday could not take the disrespect, and she went to protect her territory

She approached Nyamu to get her off Samidoh, and a fight ensued.

Minutes later, Karen is said to have lost her cool and almost slapped her baby daddy when his bouncers intervened.

This prompted Samidoh to take off, leaving the two ladies to settle their scores.

Bouncers swung into action and separated the two ladies before things could escalate further.

The drama did not end there.

In another video, a heavily intoxicated Nyamu then proceeded on stage during Samidoh’s performance and had to be pulled off for constantly interrupting the show.

Samidoh is seen asking the guards to eject her from the podium.

The city lawyer was ultimately thrown out of the club for peace to prevail.

Samidoh’s Music promoter in the US Bernice Saroni has sent an encouraging message to Edday asking her to remain strong after the dramatic incident.

“You are in my prayers sorry hun my flight got interrupted in Switzerland but hold your husband tight. Remember when things are too good that’s when the devil comes for you. Stay calm this shall pass too. Always remember you have the crown 👑 fix it nicely better days are ahead of you my sister.”

Bernice then asked Karen to stay in her lane.

Piga sauti part 7: Police and KRA supporting the sale of cheap and fake liquor

In this episode of Piga Sauti, we shall briefly to touching on how cops, KRA and NACADA aid fake liquor merchants.

As the government tries to fight cheap liquor merchants and the menace of Chemical weapons now being thrown in the western region of Kenya.

Last week, Interior PS Raymond Omollo launched a Nationwide crackdown to chase and nab these fake liquor cartels.

He said that the government had noted a spike in the consumption of illicit alcohol and drugs during the festive season.

This crackdown is therefore timely as it mitigates the potential harm wrought on our people by illicit brews and counterfeit alcohol that is mostly traded in non-compliant premises. Through this exercise, we can protect our youth from the devastating effects of alcohol and drug abuse,” PS Omollo said.

These cartels work with the National Police Service, the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA), the Ministry of Health, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), the Anti-Counterfeit Authority (ACA) and the County Governments to operate their illegal businesses.

Kericho Senator has taken the initiative to call our Best Drink illicit brew merchants who were nabbed a few days ago.

To the owner of this vehicle and the counterfeit liquor products (Best drink), I have news for you. You will not destroy the lives of the young people in my county, it is you, the KRA & Police officers you have compromised that will instead be destroyed. Mtahama Kericho na Kenya,”

The Majority leader in the Senate Cheruiyot said he had obtained the identities of the cops and state officials involved in the fake alcohol syndicate.

“I also have the names of senior KRA and Kenya Police officials who are part of the syndicate and are now calling the gallant police officers who impounded the lorry and are now threatening them. The guts!! I hereby repeat, look for a new playground, Not Kericho. Not Kenya,”

Kilimani MCA Robert Alai also supported the initiative and called for more support from President Ruto.

In Kisumu, Siaya and Homa Bay is worse. We will carry out the operation together. President Ruto must support us on this. The bad liquor imported from Uganda is destroying lives in Western Kenya (Nakuru to Busia).

Among the concerns arising out of the exercises include the proliferation of substandard and counterfeit alcohol and the sale of brands with fake standardization stamps and outlets with deplorable health standards.

But, where do these cases varnish to?

KRA has been reporting to have arrested ethanol, fake stamps, and consignments of fake liquors that cost billions of shillings but no case has ever been successful.

The rot is ingrained deeply into the system and the cases all go away in a day or two.

In fact, an insider speaking to this writer says the police are the ones that help those arrested on how to sodomize the laws of the land.

KRA cartels and Police on roadblocks also help the spread and transportation of these illegal brews across the country as far as their pockets are filled.

Inside Ben Gethi’s Secret Underworld

Serial criminal Ben Gethi

Serial criminal Ben Gethi

It is an open secret that Ben Gethi is a dangerous career criminal.

After gaining fame for masterminding the NYS scandal, he continues with his criminal activities.

Early this year, he was found guilty and jailed in a fake IEBC scandal.

Luckily for him, however, he managed to pay the fine.

There was a lady, among his accomplices who he was jailed with, by the name Joyce Makena.

Gethi claimed she was his sister, but the truth is she is one of his girlfriends.

He committed perjury by lying about such sensitive information in court.

He further impregnated one of his slay queens by the name of Muthoni, who gave birth to their child at AAR Hospital when he was in jail this year.

His love child was sired while he was in jail, whereas he has a wife and two kids with a lady who is a doctor at KNH and his wife is the daughter of the Kenyan Ambassador to Zimbabwe.

His wife does not know about this child.

Lately, Ben Gethi together with an accomplice known as Benson Njeru Muriria—the Embu KANU Chairman—have been conning innocent Kenyans that they can secure lucrative Government tenders, appointments and employment in the military and other disciplined forces.

They have conned many unsuspecting Kenyans and used that money to live lavishly.

During the past administration, Benson Njeru Muriria claimed to be the Personal Assistant to Mama Ngina Kenyatta and used that name to con many Kenyans and foreigners out of their hard-earned money.

He also owns a pair of handcuffs which he carries around in his car to intimidate and con people.

The handcuffs are illegal because he is certainly not a police officer.

Members of the public are advised not to fall prey to their con games.

Karen Nyamu Diagnosed with Competition Anxiety

Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has blamed alcohol over an embarrassing incident in Dubai where she engaged in a commotion with Mugithi music star Samidoh’s wife Edday Nderitu Thursday night during a concert.

Nyamu took to her Facebook live on Saturday to respond to her fans about what transpired during the incident that saw her dislodge Edday before sitting on Samidoh’s lap.

The incident stirred a public debate on the conduct of the lawmaker, with some observers saying she had violated constitutional provisions on leadership and integrity.

Others defended Nyamu’s conduct, arguing that she has a right to fight for her space, having birthed two children with Samidoh, a police officer.

Amongst the numerous reactions, one specific opinion by a Kenyan on Facebook seems to have aptly captured the circumstances behind the senator’s deplorable behaviour.

The netizen blamed Nyamu’s current predicaments on what he termed as “competition anxiety” whereby she is struggling to remain relevant in Samidoh’s life amidst tough rivalry from younger and more beautiful girls.

According to Kenyan author Jacob Aliet (Jack Agwa), since Nyamu is aware that her affair with Samidoh is not legitimate and not in any way officiated, her strategy is to be public about their relationship in search of acceptance from the public eye.

Below is his full, interesting opinion.

Jacob Aliet

Kenyan author Jacob Aliet has diagnosed Karen Nyamu with “Competition Anxiety”

“What’s killing Karen Nyamu is competition anxiety.

She knows her SMV is low, being a single mother with a child (or more) who aren’t Samidoh’s.

Other women are now coming into Samidoh’s arms who are younger and more beautiful, and she knows her days are numbered.

Samidoh is her last-ditch effort at consolidating her eroded sexual agency, and bolting him down now is her topmost priority, because she knows that in a couple of years, she will become invisible.

This is the fight of her life.

With only Samidoh’s wife, Edday, who is mature, secure, and chilled as her only competition, all Nyamu needed to secure her place was: to have Samidoh’s kids, parade her value as a nominated senator and ensure the public knew who the father of her younger kids was.

Since Nyamu couldn’t be legitimate via a marriage certificate, her strategy was to be public about their affair and get some acceptance in the public eye.

But now, other women are coming in, and Nyamu is forced to spring forward, fight them off and mark her territory.

It’s because her position is precarious.

She knows she is a side chick, and if more side chicks join Samidoh’s rotation, she is just one among many, and most likely the oldest one with the highest mileage.

This is the battle of her life, and Samido’s wife, Edday is enjoying this to the fullest.

That is why Edday publicly posted a lovely post thanking Bernice Saroni for “taking care” of her husband during US tour.

‘The enemy of my enemy is my friend’ works here very well.

Because Eddah is not a high-conflict personality, she will welcome any younger woman who can kick Nyamu out.

People assume that Samidoh knows what he is doing. He doesn’t.

Just like Samuel Wanjiru our gifted marathon runner, he is just a talented young man who finds himself in fame, has access to many women, and he is smashing as he enjoys what comes with his fame.

But Nyamu is not domesticated or feminine.

As a cat that belongs to the streets, she comes with high drama and dysfunction and is perfectly willing to burn a carpet to kill a flea that bothers her.

Many empires have been brought down by women, and I know Samidoh feels like he is bulletproof right now.

Many apex men often feel like this when they are at their peak.

Look at the story of Montell Jordan and how he ran around with other women, see how badly he crashed.

Yet he was even bigger than Samidoh.

You all know the story of Mr. Nice (Mac Muga) and others.

Being young, dumb and d*ck driven has spelt the demise of many men.

Welcoming chaotic women into one’s life, especially random scallywags with other men’s children, is always costly and moves a man further away from maximizing his potential.

The limelight of many Mugithi musicians, indeed, most musicians, is rather short, and many of them retire to a life of obscurity and often penury.

This is when Samidoh should invest in real estate, stocks, and so on, and not expend his energies settling baby mama drama.

He should be in the news for groundbreaking a new shopping mall or opening a new business, not about what scallywags are fighting over him.

Anytime now, another talented kid will rise up and take up his place, which will spell the beginning of the end of him.

Nothing in this world truly belongs to a man.

Fame, like beauty, is very transient, and I wish Samidoh the best as he navigates these treacherous waters.

As they say, the stove that burns teaches best.”

Anti-graft Sleuths Target Corrupt KeRRA Officials

$

Reports have emerged that some junior officers in the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) are among those targeted for action after using proceeds of corruption to sponsor politicians allied to Azimio La Umoja coalition in the last general election.

Sources reliably informed us that most of those feeling threatened are in a hurry to resign while others have promised to stay put and wait for whatever action is likely to be taken against them.

Some junior officers suspected to have misused taxpayers’ money to finance political activities include KeRRA Nyanza regional boss Eng. Kenneth Ochieng and his Western chapter counterpart.

A plot is reportedly in place to link them to corruption ahead of their sacking, something being planned against their bosses at the headquarters.

Whereas the junior officers in regional offices funded some Azimio allied governors and MPs, top bosses are said to have poured millions of shillings towards Raila Odinga’s campaign in a bid to frustrate President William Ruto and his allies during the last general elections.

Panic has gripped has now gripped the pinpointed officers based at Nyanza and Western officers after they learnt that a Kenya Kwanza top decision-making organ demanded that the affected officers be shown the door.

The tension is span across the country.

Speaking under the request of anonymity, a security official privy to the planned raid revealed it’s only a matter of time before investigative agencies pounce on the earmarked officers.

Allegations that they acquired multi-billion-shilling estates from kickbacks and bribes from contractors are part of what will be used to implicate them in corruption and eventually hound them out of office, amidst arrest and possible prosecution.

Nyanza KeRRA regional boss, is said to be notorious for corruption and is at loggerheads with a section of irate contractors who believed that they were unfairly locked out of tenders in favour of those who part with huge amounts of cash in form of kickbacks.

The disgruntled contractors lamented how some politicians were irregularly awarded tenders as protection fees for the officers, who were literally on a looting spree.

In Bungoma, rogue officers at Kenya Rural Roads Authority freaked out over reports that they were being trailed by the anti-graft agencies.

As things stand, the regional top officials linked to corruption are living under the fear they could be picked up at any time for interrogation.

Procurement officer Evans Barasa and his accountant Nelson Sino are said to be among those wreaking havoc at the government agency.

According to sources, they are afraid that their respective bank accounts believed to be hiding millions of dirty money and property are likely to be seized in the looming operation.

The troubled officers now blame some disgruntled contractors as the orchestrators of their current woes.

Recently, a section of contractors accused Bungoma procurement officer Barasa of what they term as abuse of office and impunity.

Locals claim that 22pc is meant for constituency roads, and 10pc of the tenders are supposed to be awarded to youth and people living with disability.

Documents show that the procurement officer has gone against the procurement rules to have his companies awarded road tenders meant for special groups.

The companies in question are AfricaReageholdings Ltd, Kadenge Contractors, Leta Kenya and Timaka Ltd, whose directors are close allies of Barasa, Kerra procurement officer.

Barasa is also accused of demanding hefty kickbacks from bidders so that their companies would be favoured during the tendering process.

Bungoma residents now want the KeRRA procurement probed and rogue officials condoning corruption transferred.

“The Kerra accountant, one Sino, always colludes with Barasa in awarding themselves the tenders without advertising the same.

The Kerra upper western region is notorious for tribalism and nepotism, as all its top management

are under one ethnic community,” one angry resident lamented.

Adding: “Jared Omondi, the regional director, is a Luo, one K’otieno his deputy, also Luo. Sino the accountant and his deputy are also Luos. ICT correspondent Mr Jasper is also a Luo.”

The local community employees are complaining about harsh treatment and nepotism at work.

How Eco Bank Colluded With KiwiPay to Steal Sh4bn

$

Ecobank has been bursted over its role in the Sh4 billion fraud case involving an online payment firm that is associated with an international credit card scam syndicate.

The lender is facing two charges where it is accused of conspiring with Kiwipay, and some crooked Kenyan corporate moguls to illegally withdraw money belonging to two clients, who are also associated with the foreign firm.

Eco bank authorized the fraudulent withdrawal of more than Sh2.8 billion held in three bank accounts belonging to a woman from the Southeast Asian nation of Laos.

The case filed by Ms Monthida Rashi is accusing the bank of releasing a sum of $23,452,493 (Sh2,878,793,515) to Kiwipay Ltd, a New Zealand-based online payment firm.

Ms Rashi filed the case days after another company, Avistia S.R.O Ltd, took Eco Bank for allowing Kiwipay to withdraw $13,473,110 (Sh1,653,824,252) from its three bank accounts.

Ms Rashi who is the director of Paygram Company Ltd claimed that the money held in her company’s accounts were debited into accounts of other entities including Kiwipay PTE and Kiwipay Kenya Ltd without her consent and knowledge.

But court documents also revealed that she is a former director and shareholder of Kiwipay Kenya Ltd.

Kiwipay PTE ltd which is registered in Singapore, offers digital payment solutions including QR Code solutions for retail shops, hotels and restaurants by enabling foreign e-wallet solutions like Alipay, SamsungPay, ApplePay, WeChatPay and many more.

The disputed amount is part of funds that had been frozen by High Court in March 2021 over allegations of money laundering and credit card fraud.

Investigations by Asset Recovery Agency (ARA) cleared Kiwipay of any wrong doings, prompting the withdrawal of forfeiture case on October 26, 2022.

The move was made after Laos based investigators claimed that KiwiPTE was not part of money laundering or tax evasion syndicates.

But Ms Rashi argues that following unfreezing of the accounts, Eco Bank allowed transactions of Kiwipay accounts leading to the release of the funds.

She is demanding a refund of $11,134,831 from Eco Bank on behalf of Kiwipay Kenya Ltd, which was withdrawn from her dollar account without her consent.

She also wants $8,804,831 from Kiwipay PTE Ltd and its director Mr. Gregory Schimdt who is her former business partner.

She is further pushing for the recovery of the money on behalf of Paygram Company Ltd.

The company is also seeking a refund a refund of $3,512,831 from Kiwipay Kenya Ltd as Ms Rashi further argued that she lost the money through eight transactions done between October 28 and November 22, 2022.

She told the court that on October 28, a sum of $1.8 million was debited as a recovery of chargeback fees and penalties due to Eco bank.

“I am not aware of any sum due to Ecobank from the Kiwipay Kenya Ltd. Despite the request, the bank has failed to provide any reasons to explain or justify such a large amount of money which they debited to the company’s account without any notice,” Ms Rashi said.

Rashi was also surprised to learn that on November 16, 2022, some $930,000 was wired from Kiwipay Kenya limited to another internal account, IFO Kiwipay Kenya limited, as legal fees.

“I am not aware of any legal fees to be paid to Kiwipay Kenya Limited. There is no credible innocent explanation for this transfer. A demand to Ecobank for an explanation has been ignored,” Ms Rashi said.

The newly appointed EcoBank’s CEO, Mr. Jeremy Awori now risks serving a jail term after the bank defied complying with court orders emanating from similar allegations.

Commercial Court judge Dola Chepkwony gave Avistia S.R.O Ltd green light to pursue Mr Awori and two other senior bank managers- Samuel Odhiambo and Eva Schumatez Anyango over the heated court battle pitting Avistia S.R.O Ltd against KiwiPay PTE Ltd and KiwiPay Kenya Limited.

Why Powerful State House Forces Are On The Neck of KAA Boss

$

KAA MD Alex Gitari

Troubled KAA MD Alex Gitari

The managing director of Kenya Airport Authority (KAA) Mr. Alex Gitari is a man under siege after finding himself on the radar of powerful State House forces that are out to have him punished for his contribution on Raila Odinga’s presidential campaigns.

Gitari is among prominent individuals who were used by the retired regime to offer financial assistance towards the failed Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) and subsequently, ODM leader’s failed presidential bid where billions of taxpayers’ money was wasted.

Their key role was to facilitate corruption in favor of those who were bootlicking former president Uhuru Kenyatta and frustrating William Ruto’s presidential bid ahead of the August 2022 general election.

It is because of Gitari, general manager HR Anthony Njagi and some rogue CSs like Joe Mucheru and Fred Matiang’i that Ruto, during his campaigns, complained of state capture and promised to crush them once elected president.

But the troubles against Gitari are also coming at a time when a section of KAA workers have threatened to expose him over gross misconduct and high level of looting at the State Agency.

The concerned staff wants Mr. Gitari and Njagi investigated for pumping billions of shillings towards Odinga’s campaign kitty and pocketing heavy kickbacks at the expense of the staff welfare.

Gitari and Njagi got the plum positions through the influence of former powerful Interior PS Karanja Kibicho and the outgoing Transport PS Paul Maringa.

Even the former Transport CS, Mr.James Macharia, who was regarded as Uhuru’s untouchable man complained over the circumstances under which Gitari and Njagi got into KAA’s top management.

KAA workers have lamented over impunity being presided over by the two top officials who have demoralized the staff after they conspired to cancel annual salary increments.

The duo has also been accused of negotiating the collective bargain agreement with the workers union but ends up dishonoring such deals.

In 2016 they negotiated with the workers union for 13pc pay increase in salaries but defaulted at the end of that year.

Gitari, Njagi and crooked officers in their cartel were sure that the Odinga they were funding would win the presidency and shield them to continue defrauding KAA but are now scared stiff of the obvious consequences.

KAA board of directors confirmed Gitari as the MD effective July 8 2021 for a three year term despite the agency being linked to numerous scandalous deals under his watch including the scheme to fast-track the handover of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to Kenya Airways.

The loss making Kenya Airways had submitted a proposal to KAA to run JKIA for a 30-year period as it pays concession fees to the operator.

Gitari was also part of a shady deal where KAA was planning to pay Chinese firms, Anhui Construction Engineering Group Ltd and China National Aero Technology Engineering Company, Sh56 billion for no work done on a second terminal at the airport.

He was stopped by parliament’s public investments committee which cancelled the project in March 2016 after being launched by Uhuru.

The Chinese firm was demanding for Sh17.6 billion as compensation following the cancellation of the contract after it was paid Sh4.2 billion which was never recovered.

Gitari was also part of the ring of cartels that stole and sold the Covid-19 gears that China billionaire Jack Ma donated

to Kenya when Covid-19 was ravaging the country.

The Kenya Civil Society group which claimed that Gitari played a role challenged him to come clean on how the consignment was stolen yet he was part of the government dignitaries who received the donation at the Airport.

Safaricom fails to compensate former employee despite court order

Safaricom has failed to compensate Michael Karanja, against a court order.

The Employment and Labour Relations Court, in May ordered the rogue telco to pay Mr Karanja Sh2.4 million for wrongful dismissal five years ago.

According to court documents, Mr Karanja, who was a fraud investigations officer, was handed a letter of summary dismissal in May 2017 accused of conflict of interest dealings involving Safaricom M-Pesa agents.

“The respondent’s (Safaricom) letter of summary dismissal dated 31 May 2017 states that investigations had established that the claimant failed to follow the M-Pesa agent penalty guidelines in freezing and unfreezing of accounts and assisted a third party in irregular M-Pesa tills, of which he received funds contrary to the Safaricom Risk Management Code of Ethics,” the documents said.

Mr Karanja was also accused of regularly accessing customer and agent accounts against procedures and sharing the information with a third party in contravention of Safaricom policies and customer confidentiality.

Peter Ndegwa, CEO, Safaricom Plc

In his ruling, however, Judge Jacob Gakeri said Safaricom did not ensure Mr Karanja received a notice inviting him to a disciplinary hearing, and that the telco failed to present the results of the investigation against him. “Evidently, the respondent may have had good reason to terminate or dismiss the claimant but did not pursue the process to its logical conclusion,” he said.

Mr Karanja had sought Sh6.2 million including Sh347,000 one month’s salary in lieu of notice, Sh4.1 million for 12 months’ gross salary for unfair dismissal, Sh1 million annual bonus and Sh694,000 for leave not taken.

The Employment and Labour Relations Court, however, declined to award Michael Karanja the total amount of Sh6.7 million he sought as compensation.

In its 2020-2021 Financial Year (FY) Sustainable Business Report, Safaricom dismissed 28 employees for fraud. This was a 75 per cent increase from the previous year.

The rogue telco dismissed 24 staff for fraud-related crimes in the 2021 – 2022 FY, Sustainable Business Report.

10 of the 24 were sacked due to Sim-Swap fraud, up from 4 in the previous year.
