A Trade Union That Takes Kshs. 5 Million A Month From Members With Nothing To Show For It

Not worth the salt: Isaiah Kubai, the Methusellah at Banking, Insurance Finance Union of Kenya (BIFU)

Ideally a Trade Union must represent the interest of its members.

The definition of a trade union is an organisation made up of members (a membership-based organisation) and its membership must be made up mainly of workers. One of a trade union’s main aims is to protect and advance the interests of its members in the workplace. Most trade unions are independent of any employer.

Banking, Finance Union of Kenya (BIFU) is one such useless organisation led by the wanker and criminal in chief Isaiah Kubai.

The guy is old and has led the organisation since its founding in 1986. This means he’s been in power for over 30 years.

One thing that you should note is that a Trade Union must have a constitution, it must have systems and structures in place such as those of ownership, membership, resignation and appointment, have legal office that fights for the rights of workers and does not at any time side with the employer.

For Christs-sake, why would a trade union side with the employer yet employees are the ones who form its membership and also fund it?

5 million shillings a month

BIFU comprises of members from Banks, Insurance firms, Kenya Revenue Authority 9KRA), Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies (SACCOs), Forex Bureaus, Money changers, Kenya women Finance Trust, National Social Security Fund (NSSF), and National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).

In total, the members from these pool of financial industry workers give BIFU around Kshs. 600 a month that totals to a conservative figure of Kshs. 5 million.

Call the Police

The problem is this, the members list cannot be found, Mr. Kubai keeps it under lock and key in his bedroom.

Representatives from banks once asked for audited statement of accounts but those too were not available. Instead they were treated to intimidation, where the OCS for Central Police Station was bribed with Kshs, 200,000 to arrest them.

They are still facing charges due to this.

They asked for BIFU, for example, to at least speak with Equity Bank which was mistreating employees last year, but that too fell on deaf ears.

Is he old, senile, blind and deaf at the same time? It is a sad state of affairs.

Mr. Kubai, it is time to go!

Leave this work to people who can do it perfectly.

Their are fresh blood who can represent the case of bankers; one of the most downtrodden employees, in this country.

Banks in Kenya make billions but their staff work and live like slaves.

There’s a common adage in Kenya, ‘as broke as a banker’.

These children of no-lesser god need representation that is assertive and above all humane. Should I stress that there should at least be some semblance of law?

Mr. Kubai has failed as a trade unionist, (oops, Tom Mboya turned in his grave when I used this title to refer to the likes of Isaiah Kubai).

There’s evidence that this wanker Kubai, colludes with management at the banks to sack employees; mostly those representatives from the banks that have been elected by workers to represent them at BIFU.

The banks’ management is always glad to execute this diabolic command because, they know too well that, one, they are protected from a backlash (i.e. no one, which should actually be BIFU, will protect the sacked employee, and two, the HR receives some ‘token’ of appreciation in terms of kickbacks.

All these culminates into a see-no-evil camaraderie where bankers continue being treated like slaves; and banks continue to make billions.

BIFU takes in millions without being a a proper Trade Union, this calls for the police to take away this guy for questioning.

It is a GESTAPO that must be obliterated.

What is the labour ministry saying?
