Damaris is a single mother of two and an orphan. She doesn’t know the faces of her parent because they died when she was two years old.

She lived with her granparents; the grandfather Johnstone Mutisya Munee bought a 5 acre piece of land at Jambush in Syokimau from Syokimau Farm.

Syokimau Farm manages and sales land in and around the area.

Damaris found out this in a chanced discovery after she stumbled upon some documents to this effect.

In order to start on a new lease of life, she embarked on formalising her newfound wealth, transferring the land documents to her name with intention to sell parts of the land so as to make money.

A ‘good Samaritan’, Mr. Simon Muthama, who introduced himself as a former chief from Kibra in Nairobi offered to help her sell the land. Mr. Muthama had been informed by another person about a lady looking to sell land.

In the process of changing the ownership of the land, Damaris had been advised to do it in Machakos and that’s how she was introduced to a lawyer, P.M. Mutuku Advocates, who deals land, Landlord and Tenant law in among other things.

P.M Mutuku Advocates is based in Peter Mulei Building, 1st Floor, Room Number 6 Opposite Machakos bus Park in Machakos Town.

Strange Turn of Events

The search at Ardhi house to verify if indeed the piece of land belonged to her grandfather, brought up some other disturbing facts.

At Ardhi House, Damaris was introduced to one Francis Mutwiwa, who was then a junior person but now has risen to a director at the ministry of lands, siting at an office on the 4th floor of Ardhi House

Damaris would later discover that the land belonged to her grandfather but there was another name that kept coming up, that of, Amina Abdalla Abubakar, who has since taken over the land, fenced it and employed security guards to intimidate Damaris.

Amina Abdalla Abubakar is very mysterious, she has never been seen, she also doesn’t appear on the records of Syokimau Farm. In short, this is a conman game coming up.

Officials at Ardhi House couldn’t find her name in some of the hard copy documents.

A few weeks after meting the Lawyer P.M Mutuku to have the Bid Plan, Share Certificate and Allotment Letter produce a title Deed, the lawyer called Damaris on phone and informed her that some other family related to her late Granddad had come to his office and are laying claim to the land.

This is Where Scam Started!

Damaris had never known she has another family, let alone those closely related to her. She was left alone in this world and she immediately knew this was a scam.

She asked the lawyer, ‘how comes the ‘family’ had just come directly to P.M. Mutuku offices yet there are many other law firms in Machakos Town?

The lawyer couldn’t answer that.

Secondly, Damaris demanded to meet her new ‘family’ but the lawyer became indifferent. To this day, Damaris doesn’t know who those ‘family’ members were. The lawyer went mute but the con had just began.

The buyer that wanted to buy the land at Kshs. 100 million, was impressed by Damaris’s hardworking nature to process a Title Deed for the land, and so promised to pay her Kshs. 20 million downpayment to help her with financing and speeding up of the Title Deed acquiring process.

This brought out the beast in men, Simon Muthama, on learning this immediately demanded Kshs. 10 million fee from Damaris.

Damaris responded by telling him that the process is still long and that she needs all the money she can get till finality of the process.

Simon could here none of it and she started making calls to Damaris, warning her that Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers were trailing her and that she should switch off her phone to evade arrest.

Damaris had one question, ’what have I done to warrant an arrest?’

Simon Muthama, who is now emerging as a conman couldn’t answer. The potential buyer of the land at Kshs. 100 million also went mute after this scuffle began. Damaris suffering had started afresh.

In the next part, cnyakundi.com is going to mention the names of the DCI officers, reveal the car they used to arrest Damaris and the unseen ‘big’ hand that seems to be behind all her predicament.
