A court has ordered a halt to the recruitment of the Media Council of Kenya (MCK) Board after a petitioner cited conflicts of interest within the interviewing panel and the shortlisted candidates, many of whom are affiliated with the Nation Media Group (NMG).
The recruitment process has been halted pending the hearing and determination of the petition.
The petitioner argued that the panel members had close ties with the NMG and that the shortlisted candidates were either current or former employees of the media house, raising concerns about their impartiality and independence.
