The Ministry of Interior and National Administration has announced that government security agencies on Tuesday thwarted an attempted cattle rustling incident in the Mogil area of Chesongoch Division in Elgeyo Marakwet County.

At around noon , a coordinated effort by formed units and National Police Reservists (NPRs) successfully prevented an attack by three groups of bandits who had laid an ambush in the area.

Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kithure Kindiki has praised the security agencies for their swift action and for their commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region.

The banditry and cattle rustling crisis in North Western Kenya and its environs has been a persistent issue, and the Interior Ministry has vowed to take decisive action to address it.

The successful thwarting of this latest attempt is a testament to the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its citizens, and to bringing an end to the banditry crisis.

Kindiki has further assured the public that the government will continue to take all necessary measures to address the issue, and urged citizens in the affected areas to remain vigilant and to cooperate with the security agencies in their efforts to combat banditry and cattle rustling in the region.
