Jane Thuo: Board Chairperson of the Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK)

A concerned whistleblower has sent us disturbing information regarding some women leaders who are using and oppressing other women in their journey to rise to the top by nook or crook.

Dr. Jane Thuo, Board Chaiperson of the Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK) is the individual in question.

She and her Board reportedly recruited a candidate for the Executive Director position, who was given an offer letter, but then later, deals were cut, and the same job was given to one Patience Nyange, who was a gubernatorial candidate for Taita Taveta in the recently concluded polls.

“When members of the association tried to question the process, they were silenced,” the source tells us.

Addding: “This kind of corruption should not be allowed to happen in a women’s organisation.”

It appears that at AMWIK all women are equal, but some are more equal than others.

“You have to have connections. The sense of entitlement and impunity is sickening.

Nyakundi, kindly highlight this for the benefit of other women’s organizations,” pleads the source, whose identity we shall keep anonymous.

She also attached the letter shown below, where the Board pathetically tried to justify their mistakes and favouritism in discriminating against one lady, possibly due to her tribe, and other factors clearly not related to performance.

Additionally, it is claimed that they dish out opportunities at the association based on cartel connections.

Yet the organization survives donors like Global Affairs Canada who primarily fund their activities.

This is terribly wrong and must be brought to an end!
