Police officers at the Buruburu Police Station have come under the spotlight for failing to help a man who was bitten by an unlicensed German Shepherd dog, which belongs to a well-known bar owner within the area.

When the victim showed up at the police station, they blatantly refused to write down the offense in the Occurrence Book (OB) and simply brushed him off.

A source privy to the matter says that the resident is the third casualty of frequent attacks by the same dog in a span of a few weeks.

Officers from the Nairobi City County have also been faulted for ignoring multiple calls to impound the dog.

Suspicions are rife that the wealthy owner has compromised the County Askaris with fat brown envelopes to look the other way.

The dog continues to be a danger to residents and especially children in the area right next to Harambee Primary School.

The latest victim was given first aid at Jericho Hospital, but interestingly, the police say they do not recognize results from anywhere other than Mama Lucy Hospital.

“He doesn’t have money to get the anti-rabies shots required and police have told him to invite his family for a Harambee to sort out costs,” the source wrote on social media.

Concerned residents have urged Governor Johnson Sakaja, the National Police Service (NPS) to swiftly move in and sort out the menace.

They have also called on the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) to ensure action is taken against the officers at Buruburu Police Station who have put their insatiable greed ahead of Kenyans’ interests.
