Reprieve beckons for residents of Maringo Estate in Makadara constituency after their Member of Parliament (MP) George Aladwa finally bowed to mounting public pressure and took up the responsibility of fixing a huge mess that was left behind by an incompetent road contractor.
On Wednesday, June 22, this blog aired the plight of the angry locals who blamed Mr Aladwa for hiring a bogus company owned by his close friends to repair and upgrade roads in Ruiruaka Crescent and its environs.

Unfortunately, the workers wreaked havoc with astonishingly poor works that left the place worse than before.
Carelessly operated bulldozers broke underground pipes and spilt sewage all over.
Personnel in charge bolted the scene to avoid retribution.
For over two months, residents struggled to navigate through the hazardous drainage and open pits.
None of the local leaders bothered to offer any real solution.
By the time the source wrote to us, they had exhausted all other available means of seeking an audience over the matter.
Last evening, someone reliably informed us that just two days after the story went public, a bulldozer was sent to properly grade the affected areas.
