CAPTION: TDM International LTD

An overseas recruitment agency based in Nairobi is faced with strong allegations of running an organized extortion racket targeting desperate Kenyans looking for greener pastures overseas.

Through a message forwarded to our newsdesk on Saturday, 19th March 2022, an anonymous tipster exposed how TDM International has been luring gullible job seekers into giving up crucial national documents with the false hope of employment opportunities abroad.

According to our source, the company that runs its operations from the 1st Floor of Laxmi Plaza along Biashara Street is notorious for unlawfully withholding passports for shortlisted candidates that fail to show up for interviews.

For those who fall into the unlucky trap and get their papers confiscated, TDM International baselessly demands a Sh100,000 bribe in the name of a supposed “penalty”.

One victim of the long-running scam is currently pleading for public help after he missed out on a lucrative job offer because he could not produce his passport which was held captive at the rogue agency.

To add salt to injury, the man who is now struggling to provide for his family had already forked out a dubious Sh40,000 “application fee” to get enlisted for the interviews.

The matter was reported at the Central Police Station last year but up to date, no action has been taken on the culprits suspected to be working in close cooperation with high-ranking officers.

“Subject: Complaint about Fraud at TDM International LTD”

“This is to inform the DCI Authority for investigation and alert Kenyans to be careful with TDM International LTD.

So this company is becoming a fraud field in the name of scamming poor Kenyans by holding other people’s passports after failing to show up for this abroad jobs.

Some friend’s passport is in their custody even after they received payment commission there still demanding more so that they can return their passport.

I am writing this to bring into your concern for assistance.

A transaction of 40,000 was made by Peter Chanzera of Tel: +254725984139, and never managed to travel due to unavoidable circumstances and the Visa expired.

But in return for his passport, he is demanded to pay 100k for not showing-up so that he can receive back his passport.

He has just gotten another new job with another company and the Visa will be expiring this month on 26/03/2022.

He reported the matter at the Central Police Station last year but until now nothing has ever been done about this issue.

So this is to inform the authorities and Kenyans to help him recover back just his passport so that he might get this job and help his struggling family.

I am quite surprised to mention that this might be a fraudulent transaction that involves some people in authority because how comes since it was reported at Central Police Station until now the matter has never been settled?

Who knows how many Kenyas out there are going through such an experience like this?” the source writes.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have been urged to keenly probe this matter and ensure that justice is found for the afflicted parties.
