A section of Migori residents has apologized to ODM Party presidential hopeful Jimmy Wanjigi after chaos arose in the county on Friday.

In a fresh video clip currently doing rounds on social media, the locals condemned the unfortunate incident and reassured Wanjigi that he is fully welcome to campaign in the area.

They further urged him to ignore today’s fracas and reschedule a trip back to Migori as soon as possible.

Earlier in the afternoon, the billionaire businessman came under a hail of stones near Rongo town where he had made a stopover before rowdy youths disrupted his roadside rally.

In a video that quickly went viral, Wanjigi had just started addressing a roadside rally from the sunroof of his four-wheel-drive SUV when the verbal and physical attacks began.

His chant  “When I say ODM, say Fagia Wote (sweep all of them),” seemed to have infuriated the locals who hurled stones directly at him, with some missing him by a whisker.

On Friday, Wanjigi kicked off his tour of Luo Nyanza, which is seen as the political bedrock of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Wanjigi’s tour of the Nyanza region was opposed by a section of local party officials who accused him of organizing a tour without informing them.

He arrived in Kisumu on Thursday where he castigated party officials whom he said won’t intimidate him as he seeks to wrestle the ODM party ticket ahead of next year’s General Election.

He was expected to visit Siaya County on Saturday before winding his tour in Kisumu on Sunday where he is scheduled to attend a church service at Kibuye Catholic church.
