Yesterday, there was drama as the Likoni Bridge Project Chief Engineer, a Chinese national blocked Transport Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Wavinya Ndeti from accessing the construction site.
Ms Ndeti came to the site to inspect the ongoing construction by the China Road and Bridge Corporation.
After the news broke, Kenyans went on a frenzy castigating Chinese Engineer, some calling him disrespectful.
Wavinya Ndeti was accompanied by Mvita DCC Charles Monari who feeling disrespected ordered his bodyguards to handcuff the engineer in the drama.
“No one informed us of any plans of visiting to check (sic), you understand?” the contractor asked.
This was done despite the contractor said the reason for the standoff was because he had not been notified of any scheduled inspection.
Cnyakundi.com asks why did the entourage not contact the engineer that they were coming so that he makes arrangements for security and safety?
Why has he pulled away by the DCC in such a manner?
There are protocols for courtesy calls.
Ndeti said she is a Kenyan government official and has a right to tour any project.
“I’m Kenyan. A minister in this government. I can walk into any project. What are they hiding?,” she said.
The way the engineer was treated is not that great as the impunity and entitlement are clearly showing.
