A Board of Management (BOM)/ Parent Teachers’ Association (PTA) teacher reached out to me with the following sad story.
The Covid-19 pandemic has ravaged their pockets and livelihoods. Meanwhile, the government doesn’t have any other plans apart from announcing terrifying figures each day.
It is quite sadistic.
Good afternoon sir.
The Covid19 pandemic has forced schools to be shut since April 15. The teachers that are not employed by the government have gone without pay since then.
The last paycheck was the end of April salary and most directors of schools still forced pay cuts on us.
The BOM/PTA teachers have not been paid by the respective schools for several months. When Covid19 came, they went home empty-handed.
We are the sole breadwinners of our families.
Some have small families and others have old parents that require financial support.
Rent and other bills have to be sorted. Our employers have told us to sort ourselves. The government doesn’t seem to consider us.
With these and many other problems, we are looking for support. A platform for our cries be heard.
On behalf of them, I appreciate your precious audience.
Thanks again.
