The Burden of Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) – Part 2

Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha.

The below post of parents complaining about Competency Based Curriculum – CBC might be funny but it is not a joke at all.

The future of our kids is at stake, the government apart from rolling out a neo-colonial education that is making kids dumber, the technocrats at Jogoo House are pocketing millions on perdiems, sitting in forums that don’t help better the situation at all.

This education is for enslaving Kenyans and must be stopped now. Recently the government blamed teachers for the bad PR of the curriculum, next when a grade 6 kid fails to read as required, the govt will blame parents.

Meanwhile, there kids are enrolled in GCSE and other worldly education system as the dumb down our kids.

No one will give you an education that will make you remove them from power or rather still make you ask them to treat them better. CBC is replacing the 8-4-4 which wasn’t that dumbing because people who passed through 8-4-4 system are a nuisance to the government, they are know-it-all that are questioning the regime and their western masters.

Last time, we shared an article with the words of a lecturer, Dr Caroline Mose, who said that the kids lost up to 70 per cent of numeracy skills since CBC.
She wrote: I said this last week, let me repeat. My child is now in Grade 4. They were given a simple “entry exam” to test where they are in terms of what they learnt in Grade 3, comparative to what Class 4s did in Class 3 before CBC came in. There was a variance of 70%. In other words, in the whole of Grade 3, with its dramas, market cleaning and project shenanigans, children lost up to 70% of numeracy and reading skill. They couldn’t even tell time on a simple clock which had roman numerals, because they couldn’t recognize these numbers.

Don’t get worried, start asking questions. You need to get loud.

‘CBC is not the education that the children of Kenya deserve’, Dr. Wandia Njoya

Below posts from parents that has gone viral on Facebook and Twitter

A post somewhere about CBC, and these are some comments from parents.

*.Asante Magoha kwa kunifanya mtu wa mkono, Mimi nimetengeneza gari ya Box usiku mzima, nikatengeneza mpira na uhuruBags(mkumbuke hakuna plastic bags ile ilikua inatengeneza mpira vizuri), Dolly, kite, boat, nimetengeneza. Ni mimi Nasoma ama nini inaendelea😠.

#Asante sana mwalimu for your initiative…mimi niko na shida moja tu..Is it possible mupunguze hizi vitu tunanunua kila siku?Every week lazima tununue vitu😒…Na hii rate naona akikaa nyumbani nimfungulie workshop akue mwana biashara

Mimi sitalipa fee na bado mtume Mtoto nimsaidie nyumbani, do you people want my child to know how bad I was in school??

Tasks like, take a photo and print it out then stick it on some file. Usiku nitatoa colour printer wapi jameni? Wafungue WhatsApp group tuwe tunapost hizo picha huko

*.I want to task magoha to explain who is the pupil between my daughter and I….I am the one making everything..kites,ball,beanbag, floating boats…and my daughter will supervise and say they are ugly 🤔 …seems Sisi ndio tulirudi shule 😭

Mbona tunalipa fee na bado tunafanya 50% of the work🤔

CBC is for the parents… You arrive home at midnight and do 90% of the homework…

Juzi my grade 4 was given a homework of writing a fork song in mother tongue.

Most of the people supporting CBC are not yet parents. You find yourself coming home from work at around 9 pm after kupambana na jam kwa njia then boom…you need clay for tonight’s homework.

Juzi we were told to attach real objects that we use to wash or clean our bodies…. fine kitambaa and kipande soap was attachable, problem came to the karai of water in the bathroom 🤷‍♀🤷‍♀

its like we need printers in the house.i wish wangiweka kwa book list as a requirement. nafika kwa nyumba 8pm mtoto anangoja nimsaidie kutengeza cloth kite. mara paper box and boat.yule natengenezea akona masharti kuliko za mwalimu. personally its kinda hectic m

CBC Woes…

Early this year I helped my daughter out with her Maths homework. Ever since she’s never had another Maths assignment. Out of sheer concern I inquire if they are no longer assigned maths homework. Long story short, she has been hiding her maths homework from me and doing it on her own or with my domestic help’s assistance. Apparently she scored 2/10 in the last Maths assignment we did together. 😏😏

Personally I never used to do homeworks all my life in school, I preferred kuchapwa, but Karma is catching up with me, Kila siku nafanya homework, one hand breastfeeding the other showing him how to draw a cow and a donkey, mind you my entire life ata kuku sijawahi chora 😭😭😭😭
