Deputy President William Ruto’s man Dan Manduku is set to be arrested in a few days in a corruption scandal that is expected to shake the Kenya Ports Authority.
Manduku, who is unwanted by the board is implicated in a Sh2.7 billion scandal that stands out like a sore thumb.
A decision has already been reached to send home embattled Managing Director and four others linked to the corruption scandal at the government agency. The board does not want anything to do with him.
The four include operations general manager William Rutto, senior works officer Anthony Muhanji, principal civil engineer Bernard Nyobange and works officer Juma Chigulu.
The DPP has obtained orders to freeze bank accounts belonging to current CEO Managing Director Daniel Manduku and his immediate predecessor former CEO Catherine Mturi-Wairi.
DPP believes these monies were used to finance political activities associated with DP Ruto’s Jubilee faction known as Tanga Tanga, part of linked to the campaign activities of McDonald Mariga in the Kibra by-elections.
The region’s premier port is under a multi-agency investigation by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the DPP.
The KPA board Chaired by Joseph Kibwana has disowned its management executives dozens of who are on the spot over several procurement deals including in the purchase and commissioning of a simulator, purchase of fresh water, attempted bribery of investigators and corruption on the controversial Sh40 billion Kipevu Oil Terminal.
So bad have things been for Manduku that he once had to fake sickness in order not to attend an event where DP Ruto happened to be in Mombasa after state-house discovered he has been DP Ruto’s man.
Reports have confirmed that state-house wants him charged for pretending to be with the president while engaging in corruption with DP Ruto on the other hand.
Other charges are abuse of office, financial misconduct, splitting of tenders to bypass procurement procedures and neglect of official duties. Dr Manduku is set to face 30 corruption charges.
