Dongo Kundu Bypass Highway, also known as Mombasa Southern Bypass Highway, is a road under construction that will connect Mombasa Mainland West to Mombasa Mainland South, without entering Mombasa Island.
This road is an important transport corridor for traffic destined to and from Tanzania and that to and from the interior of Kenya and beyond. This will ease traffic pressure on the Likoni ferry. It is meant to ease traffic in Mombasa Island.
Road construction/infrastructure development requires land to be built on, and so, the government of Kenya did acquire land but fraudulently. Read the story below, residents are accusing the government of dispossessing them of their land.
