Students from Mount Kenya University are currently trending online after they stormed out of an exam room on Wednesday morning.

A video circulating on social media showed an agitated crowd of learners outside their class where they had gathered to protest tough questions set on their examination paper.

“Mtihani Si Mtihani! Hizi Ni Nini? Rada Imekuwa Chafu Mbaya Sana” the one behind the camera shouts amidst the noise from his noisy comrades in the background.

The students are from the Department of Accounting in the School of Business and Administration.

There are complaints of slavery and racism at the heart of Gigiri, the United Nations Organisation (UN) compound.

The slave masters are some foreigners, Indians to be exact working at United Nations Office for Project Services. Their names; Thushanti Selvarajah – Head of Programme (HoP), Rainer Frauenfeld – Country Director (CD), Hina Tabassum – HR Manager, Idris Ahmed – Head of Support Services (HoSS) and Kripa Shah – Procurement Manager.

These five have made it hell for their Kenyan colleagues at the UN.

Just a year after he and his co-accused Frank Wanyama were released on a Sh 300,000 cash bail in their rape case, ex-rugby player Alex Olaba Mahaga is back in the headlines yet again.

This is after reports emerged on Friday morning that Olaba was on Thursday night arrested over claims of attempting to murder one of the witnesses in his trial is yet to be concluded.

According to a police report, the former Kenya Harlequins star was planning to kill a key witness in the case and was arrested in Nairobi West where he was unknowingly meeting an undercover crime detective in the guise of an assassin to plan the said murder of the suspect.

During the operation, two mobile phones were recovered from Olaba and are currently under forensic investigation in a bid to establish whether there might be other accomplices in the crime.

Police calim they have intel that Olaba had approached another party with the same goal of witnessing the party.

Following his arrest on Thursday, Olaba is said to have told police that he is possessed by satanic spirits.

He claims the evil spirits inspired his thoughts to plan murder.

Olaba is expected in court today to face his of attempted murder and conspiracy to defeat justice.

Prior to the High Court granting them bail last year, Olaba and his buddy Wanyama had been handed a 15-year prison sentence.

They were charged with gang-raping Wendy Kemunto on February 10 last year at an apartment in Highrise, Nairobi County.

Up to date, the two insist that the sexual escapade was mutually agreed upon.

Kenya’s Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) secured herself a spot on Kenya’s trending topics for the rest of the weekend after she was caught blatantly lying about the country’s COVID-19 vaccination numbers.

In the clip from the Ministry of Health’s Saturday briefing that is now doing rounds, Mercy Mwangangi falsely claimed that Kenya was among the top countries on the world vaccination leaderboard.

“Kenya is proudly number 7 in the whole world in terms of vaccination.We are actually on the leaderboard of vaccination in the world. And that’s the data and statistics we can share with you. So we are actually proud of what we’ve done. What we’ve done as a government, as the ministry and most importantly as Kenyans,” she said when giving an update on the status of the pandemic from Afya House.

Her remarks were immediately met by backlash on social media as woke netizens took turns in reminding Ms Mwangangi and her employers that the citizenry is not as dumb as they presume.

According to the New York Times Corona World Vaccination Tracker, more than 993 million doses have been administered across 172 countries in what is regarded as the biggest vaccination campaign in history.

Some of the countries currently in the top 10 global vaccination list include the United States, United Kingdom, UAE, Israel, Chile, Qatar, among others.

As seen on the screengrab of statistics provided above, Kenya is nowhere near the top.

In fact, as of April 16 2021, data shows that Kenya had administered a total of 651,650 doses of coronavirus which means that only roughly 1.4% of the population is vaccinated.

CAPTION: A police officer who confiscated a woman’s ID card after she refused to give in to his demand of a Sh5,000 bribe

A Mombasa woman has gone viral after footage of her altercation with the police emerged online.

In the video currently doing rounds on social media, she walks up to the group of masked-up police officers demanding to know why one of them had confiscated her identity card.

According to the audibly distressed woman who has since only been identified as Tislam Nasher, the police officer she singled out had demanded a Sh5,000 bribe which she failed to produce and he, therefore, refused to give the crucial document back.

“Hii Ni Kenya! We Have Rights! Kwanini mmeshika ID yangu? Ameniomba elfu tano nikakataa kumpa, akashika ID yangu huyu hapa,” she shouts while directing her camera’s focus to one of the cops.

The incident is said to have occurred at the city’s Mama Ngina Drive on the night of Friday 23rd April 2021 and was first reported on Twitter by one of her friends.

“What happened to my sister Tislam Nasher at Mama Ngina Drive yesternight was totally unacceptable. Our police harassing citizens, why?” asked one Ryan Mucilih Samir.

According to Tislam, the said police officer is always harassing bypassers around Mama Ngina Drive and asks for the ID which he refuses to give back unless you offer him a bribe.

From the clip, the cops also did not appear to have any badges on them, which complicates the matter even further.

Despite numerous inquiries from peculiar Kenyans online, all relevant authorities involved, including the National Police Service are yet to issue a word on the incident.

A photo that the editor of this site posted posing a question on who was allowed to ride government choppers has angered Kenyans, who are now demanding to be told who is allowed to fly in the choppers that have been bought and maintained by the taxpayers.

The photo was shared by none other than CS Amina Mohammed’s daughter Firyal Nur Al Hossain.

Most Kenyans have not forgotten how Rogers Mbithi used one to fly his family to Mombasa the day the Garissa University massacre was happening. He has since retired from the police force. He was never punished for his mismanagement.

In 2018, Firyal Nur Al Hossain made a cameo appearance on this site after she conned models who later took to social media using the hashtag #PayModelsKE

The staff are asking if they can speak out given the circumstances. More staffers are calling on the Government, African Leaders to intervene because the leadership has been concealing these things and have failed to do anything for the past 6 years and counting.

The source continued, “The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Somalia Support Office in Nairobi is headed by a lady Ida Siregar who has really frustrated staff by making sure contracts are not renewed, mistreatment of local staff by even using abusive language”.

Because of abusive language, Ms Ida has forced some staff to resign ‘…due to frustrations’.

This is a total of 31 – in post contrary to approved structure of 64 employees. It is well known that Mr. Koskey Joseph has put every effort in filling all vacant positions in the Commission with his tribesmen/women and even sitting in the interviewing panel for the position as low as that of a driver where he generated a parallel shortlist from non-applicants and imposed the same on the selection committee.  This could mean that he is keen on getting the “right” staff to improve efficiency in the Commission. ( Conflict of Interest) to have tribesmen to execute his Scandalous  interests rather than to the advantage of the commission.

In view of the above, the same effort would apply to the positions of PC 2 (Directors) which he has found “difficult” to fill even at acting capacity a move he wants to use as a reason to bargain for his renewal / extension of his term at the Commission which is due to expire on October 2021 with little consideration that he has done nothing other than looting the Commission with anticipation to loot enough to propel him into Nandi County Governorship race in 2022. This ravenousness for money pushed Mr. Koskey into awarding a tender to review the transaction proposals to Baker Tilly at a cost of 109 Million during financial year 2019/2020 knowing too well that there was no fully constituted board to consider such reports. This has caused a loss to the Kenyan taxpayers.

To demonstrate his desire for money the driver that he (Mr. Koskey) hired on an irregular secondment from Ministry of Labour at a higher grade than the approved grade for drivers i.e. PC 7 instead of PC 8 who ended up earning two salaries forfeits one salary in favour of Koskey Joseph’s campaign kit for Nandi County Governorship 2022. The account for the kitty is held at National Bank Harambee Avenue Branch – Nairobi.

Our sources informed us that Mr. Koskey Joseph is currently boasting that no one can get him out of public service for whatever reason with his close friend Mr. Simon Rotich being at the helm of Public Service Commission (PSC). He further boosts that through his connections with the former first family especially Baringo Senator Gideon Moi he says he reached his namesake Dr. Joseph Kinyua the Head of public service who quashed an earlier attempt of whistleblowers to get him out of the office for high handedness, outright looting and abuse of office.

The Former Industrialization Minister Mr. Henry Koskei single handedly and irregularly appointed Mr. Joseph Koskey who are believed to be relatives and clansmen  from a mere Accountant to Managing  Director of  KEBS.

The country is rotten to the core through conspiracy. Our findings brings to the attention to the citizens that the Finance and National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Amb. Mr. Ukur Yatani Kanacho has combined the efforts and behind the wheels to assert pressure for renewal of Mr .Joseph Koskey’s Contract.

SK Macharia, Founder and Chairman of Royal Media Services (RMS)

There is a big scandal at the Royal Media Services, things are not sitting pretty well.

The firm’s two Directors SK and Gathoni Macharia have been having domestic troubles and now SK has a new wife. A third one.

It all started when people close to SK told him that his wife is looting RMS.

SK Macharia then ordered an audit which revealed that his wife has been siphoning funds from the business.

Ms Gathoni Macharia diverted funds to her family, i.e. sisters, nephews, nieces, brothers and cousins.

One of Gathoni’s sisters was an administrative person, supplying stationery to RMS at almost 1000% mark up.

She built a house in Garden Estate with the proceeds. Another discovery was that when people are fired, their salary on the payroll is diverted to Gathoni family members personal accounts.

About 15 million a month has been diverted this way. So the layoffs are useless since sacked employees are replaced with the Gathoni’s family members, yet they do nothing for the firm.

SK also blames his wife for the way their two boys have turned out. One is a junky playboy and another one is a married gay guy.  The gay guy was taken to USA for further studies but returned with a ‘husband’.

SK decided to marry a third wife and to retaliate, Gathoni went on an overdrive looting the firm.

Their home is a war zone as SK decided to divert time and wealth to the younger wife. Gathoni is now blaming the accounts guys at RMS for funding this new wife. The accounts guy has been threatened.

People say that SK wants to take over his grandsons inherited wealth to finance his new lifestyle with a new wife.

The tussle with the grandson Adam Kamau, John Gichia Macharia who died in a road accident in 2018, is seen in this light. The late John Gichia is from wife No. 1.

Adan Keyan Wehliye, Eldas Member of National Assembly and Jubilee Coalition Secretary

Eldas Member of National Assembly Adan Keynan who is also the Jubilee Coalition secretary is accused of using DCI to abduct a lady Shamsa.

Shamsa and her friends were picked by police after they shared a message of condolence that was circulating on the Kenya Muslim fora WhatsAPP group indicating that the legislator had died.

“They just shared sympathising with his family. The lady was picked from Mombasa by Subaru bila brakes and they are currently at CID headquarters. During Ramadhan the man has no heart”, the source told cnyakundi.com

Adan Keynan was in 2003 accused of murder.

In 2019, MPs, Adan Keynan, Abdihakim Mohamed (Fafi), Rehema Jadelsa (Isiolo) and Purity Ngirici (Kirinyaga) were allegedly to be behind a sex tape of Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi.

The video which went viral on social media was however debunked by blogger Cyprian Nyakundi.

DCI Boss Kinoti was accused of dragging his feet over summoning the MPs.

Ms Gedi reported the matter to the DCI in April, accusing the four of allegedly defaming her by circulating the video, which she termed fake.

“Are these MPs so powerful and influential that you cannot summon them? We have seen before how you handle MPs with your muscles,” posed Limuru MP Peter Mwathi.

Appearing before the committee in November 2019, Mr Kinoti said the four MPs who allegedly participated in the circulation of the sex tape are still within their radar.

The DCI complained to the committee that the four never heeded the summons. “The case will not die but up to now they never came, never responded to our letter of summons,” Mr Kinoti said.

“This is a case we are passionate about and definitely will proceed with it,” he added.

Naushad Noorali Merali, the chairman of Sameer Group. Merali sold Equatorial Commercial Bank (now Spire Bank to Mwalimu National Sacco for Sh2.6 billion a 75 per cent stake.

In December 2020, Mwalimu National Sacco (MNS) fully acquired Spire Bank from businessman Naushad Merali.

It is emerging that the whole transaction cost some Sh1.7 billion. Whether this is a true story happening in Dec 2020 or in 2016 remains to be see

It was a wrong move as it further dented the little the bank was holding on to stay afloat.

Spire Bank (formerly Equaorial Commercial Bank) has struggled since acquisition by Mwalimu National Sacco. Teachers were lied to into buying a collapsing entity from the rogue Merali of Sameer Group.

The transaction between Merali and MNS is now under probe by the government.

The Senate Finance and Budget Committee believes that Merali is solely responsible, through his actions, for the ‘downward spiral of the financial institution’.

“Merali had huge deposits which he withdrew in 2016 to the tune of Ksh.1.7 billion. In the aftermath, there were panic withdrawals from customers given what happened to Imperial and Chase banks,” said Mwalimu Sacco Chairman Wellington Otiende in a virtual meeting with the Senate Committee on Wednesday.

In 10th October 2014, Mwalimu National SACCO signed an agreement on to buy the banking and investment arm of ECB. The SACCO then became the majority shareholder in the Bank, having acquired a 75% stake at the cost of Ksh.2.6 billion.

Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula, a member of the Senate Committee, suspects deposits by the businessman would have been used to cloud the true financial health of the bank in spite of the conduct of due diligence including by audit firm Ernst & Young.

“Once can say that due diligence on the financial health of the bank could have been substantially predicated on deposits held including Merali’s. If Merali goes on and withdraws the money leaving the bank as a hollow shell, this is quasi criminal,” he said.

The Committee’s Chairman Senator Charles Kibiru raised similar questions as he pushed Mwalimu Sacco and Spire Bank officials on the bank’s sudden woes following the change of ownership.

“It is surprising that all over sudden, after Merali sold his shares, we have a situation where you as the bank are looking for a strategic investor. Is it that due diligence was not done?” he posed.

Teachers bought Spire Bank, then the Equatorial Commercial Bank in late 2014 at a Ksh.2.4 billion taking up a 75 stake in the lender.

What has followed since the purchase of the bank has been six years of losses which have pushed the bank to the edge of the abyss.

In the financial year ending in December 2020, Spire Bank returned a Ksh.1.3 billion loss, a loss three times wider than Ksh.472 million negative earnings in 2019.

Interest expenses by the bank now topple earnings from lending activities while loan defaults at the financial institution are now equal to the bank’s entire loan book.

Moreover, the bank stares at the wrath of the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) with its capital and liquidity ratio falling further in breach of regulatory provisions.

In 2019 reports indicated that teachers’ could lose over Sh6 billion worth of life savings invested to resuscitate the struggling bank as it was white elephant.

Teachers are now keen on disposing the bank which risks eating up their savings and investments in Mwalimu National Sacco.

For instance, Spire Bank has eaten up teachers’ initial investment in the lender with shareholder funds sinking to negative Ksh.8.4 billion from six years of accumulated losses.

The management of the bank says it has been engaging potential investors to lift Spire from its knees.

Nevertheless, Spire Bank Chairman David Ndegwa admits the investor on-boarding process has encountered numerous obstacles putting in limbo the recovery of the ailing bank.

How CBK and the Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK) came to give their approval for MNS to acquire this bank, a move that had been opposed by Cooperative Alliance of Kenya  and Commissioner of Cooperatives is still a mystery.

“Negotiations have proved to be extremely difficult. Three potential investors have for instance exited even after giving us timelines. We are hoping to meet someone serious who is willing to fulfill prudential guidelines before the end of the year,” he said.

Seth Andrew, the founder of the Charter School, Bridge International Academies has been charged with theft of Sh21.6 million by a court in the Southern District of New York, charged with wire fraud, money laundering, and making false statements to a bank.

Andrew was taken into custody Tuesday in Manhattan and released on a personal recognizance bond after an initial appearance, SDNY spokesman James Margolin said. Andrew’s attorney, Michael Yaeger, said Andrew will plead not guilty and is reviewing the government’s case. No plea was entered Tuesday, Margolin said.

He is a former White House senior adviser for the Obama administration who helped found a network of charter schools.

Though he left the organization in 2013 for a job at the US Department of Education, and later became a senior adviser in the Office of Educational Technology at the White House. However, he continued to be paid by the charter school network.

“Seth left our network in 2013. His alleged actions are a profound betrayal of all that we stand for and to you and your children, the scholars and families that we serve. To be clear, at no time did the alleged crimes pose any risk to our students, staff or operations in any way,” CEO Natasha Trivers said in an email.

World Bank to stop funding Bridge International Academies

Trivers revealed that Democracy Prep alerted the appropriate authorities once it learned about the unauthorized withdrawals by Seth Andrew.

Trivers also added that the activity did not have “any adverse effect on our scholars or the functioning of our schools” and that the school system has since instituted financial safeguards, which lead to the discovery of the withdrawals.

According to a criminal complaint filed on April 20 and unsealed Tuesday, prosecutors allege that between March and August of 2019, Andrew used his former association with the network of schools to allegedly steal $218,005 of the school’s reserve money by using his email address affiliated with the schools to email a bank employee and convince them that he was still associated with the school, which he was not.

The complaint states that after allegedly stealing the school network’s money, Andrew “attempted to conceal the source of the stolen funds … and make it appear that the stolen funds belonged to a non-profit organization that Andrew founded, and currently appears to control.”

Prosecutors allege Andrew misrepresented that he “lawfully controlled” the money in order to obtain a discounted mortgage interest rate to buy an apartment in Manhattan.

In the clip currently doing rounds on Twitter, the group of 5 policemen who raided the premise on Thursday, April 29 can be seen manhandling the chap despite him having had his mask on.

In fact, as the video continues, one of the policemen is seen violently grabbing off the man’s mask and furiously throwing it away.

This was moments before they picked him up and marshalled him into their onwaiting LandCruiser outside the shop.

“Are police officers allowed to harass people in the name of “Haujavaa Mask Vizuri”. They’ve beaten him up na wakaenda up kumshika juu alikataa kutoa pesa. Ata kama ni njaa kasarani police men wamezidi,” a tweep named Jobu wrote on the tweet shared to his followers.

“5 Armed police men against one civilian na si ati ameua ana ameibia mtu,” he added in another follow-up post.

For followers of the Kenyan entertainment scene, the weekend is certainly off to an explosive start following the emergence of a shocking story in which Churchill Show comedian Stella Bunei Koitie, popularly known as Jemutai, has come out guns blazing and accused her colleague-cum-alleged baby daddy Herman Gakobo Kago alias ‘Professor Hamo’ of neglecting his fatherly duties.

According to the female comedy star who is known to keep her personal life under the wraps, she and her Nakuru-born counterpart have two kids together.

Jemutai confirmed this during an Instagram conversation with celebrated ‘Tea Master’ Edgar Obare where she revealed that Prof Hamo does not support his children at all.

She had initially contacted the blogger to seek help on how to sell her massively followed Facebook page due to the financial constraints she is currently facing.

But after Obare shared her plight, one of Jemutai’s friends came out with more revelations on her situation, including the deadbeat story, which then forced the blogger to personally inquire from her as to whether the claims were true or false.

Her response was affirmative.

In a follow-up audio clip sent to Edgar Obare on Friday afternoon, Jemutai goes on to explain the genesis and journey of her complicated relationship with Prof Hamo which began in 2015.

She says the two met while on the job at Churchill Show and the two began a friendship that slowly progressed into an affair despite the fact that Hamo already had a wife and family in Nakuru.

In a video clip currently circulating on social media, an angry Kenyan watched on as an NMS bulldozer demolished the wall of her property located within Peony Estate in Lavington, Nairobi.

According to Sarah Oyungu of Twitter, the so-called agents showed up on Friday night with what she claims was an unstamped order.

“This is everything that’s wrong Kenya. Agents of NMS Kenya breaking down the wall of our property despite a court ruling in our favour. If they are doing the right thing, why come at night, on a holiday, with an unstamped order?” she wrote on her page. 

Attached to the post was a video that showed a government SANY dozer roaming around the scene moments before it brought down the wall as well as photos of the event’s aftermath.

The recent baby daddy drama involving two Churchill Show comedians-turned lovers has taken a fresh twist after entertainer Herman Gakobo Kago alias Prof Hamo came out to strongly deny accusations that he is a deadbeat father.

Stella Bunei Koitie, known by her stage name Jemutai Chibambe, had on Friday accused Prof Hamo of neglecting his fatherly duties.

But in Prof Hamo’s statement made on Sunday, he refuted the claims and insisted that he was providing for all his children with Jemutai and has been sending her upkeep money through his wife all along.

In the hard-hitting Facebook post, Prof Hamo was not shy to admit that he has children inside and outside his marriage but he insisted that he has never failed to provide for them food even a single day.

Hamo added that Jemutai is just a frustrated woman who is disappointed after failing to get what she wanted from him.

“I have children who live with me and others who don’t live with me. I have been providing for my children from day one and there’s no day they went without food or shelter or anything they need.

“My wife is the one who sends upkeep for the children who don’t live with us. This has been the agreement between my family and the mother of the children,” read Hamo’s post in part.

Jemutai Responds…

But in an immediate rejoinder, Jemutai came out guns blazing again and refuted her baby daddy’s remarks.

In her Facebook post published just 3o minutes after Prof Hamo’s response, she stood her earlier ground that he does not provide for the children.

On matters of upkeep money, Jemutai claims that Prof Hamo’s wife, Mama Melissa has only sent Sh9,000 in total and the last time her baby daddy paid rent money was in October 2020.

Additionally, she revealed that Prof Hamo is a serial drunkard who only appears in the house during ungodly hours and sometimes turns violent.

Jemutai brought the revelations to the fore after she admitted to struggling to make ends meet and surviving on debts.

She had even reached out to blogger Edgar Obare seeking to sell her Facebook account for Ksh1.7 million which enable her to clear her debt including rent arrears.
