The following post is a little bit late, but the message is still fresh. A middle-aged man, Patrick Gitonga suffered in the hands of police.
He was killed, in cold blood.
All evidence, by witnesses, relatives and friends point fingers at the Kenya Police as the culprits.
Hi Nyakundi,
I would like to bring to your intention of a guy by name Patrick Gitonga who was killed by Isiolo police men over the weekend (Saturday 6th July, 2019).
They (police) are trying to cover up the murder.
I understand some policemen came to his house and picked some documents (this has been corroborated by a fried to the deceased who spoke to a local media station and it is on video)
The guy has been a lorry driver
I understand IPOA and media will be heading to Isiolo this afternoon …They have been called by area MCA of home place of the killed person.
Tomorrow, Government’s Chief Pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor will be here for a postmortem.
What the Police Said
In the statement, Mr. Moses Owiti, the Isiolo Sub-County Police Commander said Gitonga was being investigated for threatening to kill a person and when the police went to arrest him, he turned violent and injured one officer using a stone, forcing the others to sound an alarm which was answered by members of the public who assaulted Gitonga.
He was taken to the police station where he complained of illness (police did not specify), he was rushed to hospital where he passed away.
