The Wajir South Professionals have written to the Attorney General Mr. Paul Kihara Kariuki, to revoke the appointment of Mr. Abdullahi Diriye to the HIV/AIDS tribunal citing integrity issues.
The letter which was received by the AG’s office on 24th May, 2019, gives Mr. Kariuki 10 days to do so or they head to court.
The letter was also copied to head of public service and Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
Below is the letter:
We act tor AHMED MOHAMED of Wajir South Professionals Forum with instructions to address you as hereunder:-
That the appointment of Mr. Abdullahi Diriye as a Board Member of THE HIV & AIDS Tribunal for a period of three (3) Years effective 3rd May, 2019 vide Gazette Notice, Special Issue, Vol. CXXI – No. 56; gazette Notice No. 4383 (Attached herewith please find a copy of the germane Gazette notice for your perusal and ease of reference).
The crux of our client’s instructions is that the said Mr. Abdullahi Diriye is not fit to hold a public office within the republic of Kenya.
Evidence is abound that he was arraigned and convicted a Criminal Case No. 1632 of 2014; Republic V Abdullahi Diriye, Makadara Magistrate’s Court.
He was charged with two counts of creating a disturbance in a manner likely to cause breach of peace contrary to section 95 (1) of the penal code.
The said person was convicted and sentenced by the court (Hon T. Okello sitting) on 3rd April, 2014. (Herein now please find attached the subject judgement for your ease of reference).
