The devastated groom, addressing the media, mentioned that he had pardoned Nelly for calling off their wedding but desired no further connection with her.

“Nimemwacha aende afuzu maishani mwake ama atafute bwana mwengine roho safi. Kama alikuwa amesema bila kujua namsamehe na akikuja tena kusema atarudi ama nini, nimemwacha roho safi (I have let her go and succeed in life or find another spouse. If she said it unknowingly, I forgive her. If she wants to come back, I don’t want. I have let her go with a pure heart),” said Amos.

The heartbroken man recounted the events that unfolded just hours before their wedding.
“There were some issues that arose. Nelly said we should give her time; she wasn’t ready to take on the responsibilities of being a wife. When we started dating, I loved her so much that I brought her to our home, and we built a life together. We shared the little things I had. We were doing well, and there was nothing she was complaining about,” he shared.
He continued:
“There were things she was hiding, and she was not saying them. We went for koito (traditional wedding), attended her church and my church. Until Thursday, the last minute when we were in Bomet, she wrote a message. She wrote to the Reverend, and he called us on Friday. I did not know anything. We had planned everything. So on Friday, they called us and told us she had someone else, and that is how the wedding was cancelled. We had planned thinking everything was okay.”

Different sources state that Nelly’s father said:
“The reverend is responsible for calling off the wedding, citing the short courtship period.”
Mr. Koskei expressed that he wasn’t upset about the wedding cancellation, assuring his daughter that everything would be fine.
