Orlando Lyomu, CEO Standard Group

Dear sir,

I am writing to complain about physiological, verbal abuse and discriminatory workplace harassment in regards to Standard Group PLC.

Some supervisors at the company have temperament issues and have failed to understand the predicaments that

we have gone through in the last 3 month due to salary delays.

We work for many hours and rarely get time to rest, any request to work on an alternative working schedule (example, work from home) is met with disparage rants and clicks from them.

They are very strict on reporting time but they always turn a blind eye on exit time. Thus, most of us put in work for over 12 hours.

The supervisors will call you at their own convenience with lack of respect for offs with assignment, projects and prompt work shifts without considering your immediate availability for such. For some of us, working at the company means you have no private life.

They acts as if they owns the company. Contrary opinion to theirs leads to arguments, shouts and table banging. Everyone at Standard knows about these entitled individuals.  The company has frequently organized staff management trainings for the said individuals but failed to call them out. Most of us with reason have concluded that the trainings are just schemes to continue milking a dead cow, through consultancy; these supervisors always come out blunt on modern corporate staff management skills.

Standard Group as an organization should set an example by being a safe workplace for everyone. True to words, most of these managers only sit down to warm chairs while taking home huge salaries at our expenses.

It is unfortunate when some of the staff handle themselves as career executioners who dictates who works in the company and who does not.

It is a depressing and health agonizing experience to work in a toxic work environment. Probably, the recent talent hemorrhage might not be related to salaries or greener pastures but entitled depressed supervisors!

We understand that the company is going through a tough phase. As the staff fraternity,we are also going through a lot, most of us have defaulted on loans, rents, school fees and other at times skipped meals yet we put in work. Depression is real at the company, a prominent reasons to the uncouth behaviours of these supervisors. Please call them out.

Please keep anonymous.
