This blog has received a shocking report from an anonymous source regarding the conduct of one Col. Lelei, the principal Chaplain for Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) AC Sub-branch, who is alleged to be running a corrupt and money-hungry military church.
The source claims that Col. Lelei is worse than the disreputable Pastor Kanyari and has been terrifying soldiers out of the church with his unscrupulous practices.
According to the source, Col. Lelei is using underhanded tactics to collect millions of shillings which he alone accounts for, leaving soldiers feeling cheated and demoralized.
The source further alleges that a leaked proposed quota allocation for the DFCS AC SUB BRANCH in 2023 shows that Col. Lelei is set to pocket around 6 million shillings, and there are fears that he will try to extract even more through various means.
“The guy is so corrupt and money hungry that he has scared soldiers out of the churches,” the source stated.
“As a soldier, this is too much. If you don’t comply with his orders he finishes you with threats or sends you to operation areas.”
It is worth noting that the leaked document does not bear any official letterhead and Col. Lelei circulated it via WhatsApp directly to the churches.
This has raised concerns about the authenticity of the document, and the possibility that it could be part of a larger looting campaign by Col. Lelei.
Some soldiers who spoke to us under the condition of anonymity have corroborated the allegations.
“He has found ways to get millions which he accounts for alone. Soldiers are scared to speak out because he is in a position of authority,” one stated.
These allegations are certainly cause for concern and raise questions about the leadership and management of military churches.
The KDF leadership should investigate these claims and take appropriate action against the perpetrators.
It is unacceptable for any individual to abuse their position of authority for personal gain, especially in the military, which is a national symbol.
