A disgruntled staff member has made alarming revelations about the poor working conditions at Carrefour Hypermarket located at Two Rivers Mall in Nairobi.
Writing to this blog on Thursday, February 2, 2023, the source who requested anonymity painted a picture of a hostile work environment, where junior staff are constantly intimidated, frustrated, and insulted by the Head of the Department Immanuel Toris, and the Supervisor, Geoffrey Langat.
According to the source, the two leaders hold junior staff in thrall, forcing them to worship the ground they walk on for their survival in the company.
Immanuel Toris is accused of shouting at junior staff in front of customers, accompanied by bitter insults.
The source also alleges that Toris has a deep-seated hatred for Luos, Luhyas, and Kisiis, further exacerbating the already tense work environment.
It is worryingly alleged that Toris regularly threatens to fire all staff during his meetings, causing fear and uncertainty to spread among Carrefour staff at Two Rivers.
The source says that there is a deep sense of job insecurity and many employees are living in fear of being targeted by the two managers.
Carrefour Kenya has a responsibility to provide a safe and respectful work environment for their employees, and any allegations of discrimination, intimidation, or threats should be taken seriously and thoroughly investigated.
No worker should have to endure a hostile work environment, especially one that is marred by discrimination and threats to their livelihood.
We contacted the management of Carrefour Hypermarket at Two Rivers, but at the time of publishing this article, all our calls had gone unanswered.
The deafening silence from the management in response to recent allegations only serves to amplify the growing concerns about the state of affairs at the store.
This is especially troubling given our prior coverage of similar incidents reported at other Carrefour branches, indicating a pattern of neglect towards their employees’ well-being.
The lack of response from the management raises more questions than answers, leaving one to wonder just what is transpiring behind the walls of the business franchise.
It is time for the company to take a step forward and address these pressing issues, rather than ignoring them in the hopes they’ll simply go away.
As dedicated advocates of justice, we remain vigilant in our pursuit of the truth and will closely follow the developments in this matter and provide our esteemed readers with more updates.
