In a heart-wrenching incident that has left the residents of Maseno, Kisumu County, in shock, an old widow was the victim of an unlawful eviction that resulted in her untimely death.
This tragic incident was brought to our attention on Thursday, February 2, by a source who wishes to remain anonymous.
It is claimed that the elderly woman was up-to-date on her rent and was not served with an eviction notice.
Yet, despite this, she was forcibly evicted from her home, which she had lived in for many years.
The police were reportedly present during the eviction, but when the death was reported, they refused to take any action until later that day.
However, the situation has only become more distressing with the mysterious disappearance of witness statements and the sudden absence of the investigating officer.
As a result, the matter has yet to be brought before court.
The source also alleges that the County Directorate of Housing, some police officers, and a judiciary officer are involved in a conspiracy to take the house from the widow.
This, coupled with the loss of life, has left the family in despair and seeking justice for their loved one.
The widow’s family says that her death has left a hole in the hearts of those who knew her.
It is unacceptable that an innocent life was taken in such a cruel manner and that justice has yet to be served.
We call on the relevant authorities to take immediate action to bring those responsible to account.
