Azimio leader Raila Odinga has announced that he will be resuming a series of gatherings referred to as “People’s Baraza Forums” upon his return to the country from South Africa.
Raila, who is expected to land at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Monday, January 23, at 11 am, will begin the consultations with the public at the Kamukunji grounds in Kamukunji Constituency.
The forums will focus on recent disclosures by a whistle-blower regarding the conduct of the 2022 general election.
In a statement issued on Saturday, January 21, the opposition leader appealed to Kenyans to show up in large numbers at the Kamukunji Baraza, in the interest of the country.
He emphasized that the consultations are an important step in ensuring transparency and accountability in the electoral process and urged citizens to actively participate in the discussions.
The People’s Baraza Forums have been a regular feature of his political campaigns, providing a platform for citizens to voice their concerns and opinions on key issues affecting the country.
The resumption of the forums after a brief hiatus indicates that Azimio may be utilizing the IEBC whistle-blower allegations as a means to stir public emotions in order to restart their countrywide consultative rallies.
Raila’s return to the country after spending slightly over a week in South Africa is set to bring extra energy to the opposition movement.
The People’s Baraza Forums are expected to draw a significant crowd.
However, a faction of key figures in the Kenya Kwanza administration is against the gatherings, perceiving them as an unnecessary interruption aimed at derailing the government’s operations.
