Riverside Pearl Residence, a high-end property development in Nairobi, Kenya, is facing claims of mismanagement and neglect, as the owners of one of the units speak out about the deteriorating state.
A diaspora owner, who has invested in the property since 2014, has raised a list of concerns about the building, including serious leakage and structural issues with the roof.
It’s not just the roof that is causing concern for the residents.
The entire building seems to be in a state of neglect, with no repairs or paintwork being conducted.
“For over seven years, the roof has experienced structural issues that have caused serious leakage into my apartment walls. Over time, this problem has significantly increased. There are now visible cracks running throughout the entire apartment, with water patches all over the walls. This situation has continued to compromise the integrity of not only my apartment but honestly the entire building,” he says.
“I pay service charges of $600 every quarter for maintenance and yet they’ve failed to maintain the current roof crisis.”
Despite repeated requests for action, the management of the property has failed to address the issues, leaving the owner to take matters into his own hands.
In an effort to bring attention to the situation, the owner reached out to a lawyer who visited the site and was reportedly appalled at the dire state of the building.
The lawyer contacted the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) and the National Construction Authority (NCA) to report the condition of the building and recommended that the residents reach out to the media to raise awareness about the issue.
The management has not been responsive to the requests of the residents and the lawyer’s report, showing their lack of action and incompetence.
This is a clear indication that the management is not upholding their end of the bargain and has put the lives of the residents in danger.
“It’s a sorry state and the owners are now threatening to sue the company,” the owner said, attaching the pictures the lawyer took during his visit.
It is truly disheartening to see such blatant negligence and mismanagement at the Riverside Pearl Residence.
The management’s focus on making huge profits at the expense of the owners is unacceptable and they should be held accountable for their actions.
This is not just a problem for the residents of the Riverside Pearl Residence, but for the entire community.
Officials at NEMA and NCA should take immediate action to address the issues and ensure the safety of the residents.
This blog will be closely monitoring this matter and will report on its progress and outcome.
We hope that the relevant authorities will not be silenced by the corrupt management and will take necessary steps to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents.
