Little-known gold fraud suspect and businessman Gideon Zeddie Otieno will have to wait a little longer to know his fate after a Court hearing was adjourned for lack of witnesses.
The hearing of a Sh 56 million gold fraud case against b Zeddie Otieno and a Congolese citizen was today postponed to December this year.
The prosecution indicated that the matter has been in Court since 2019 and the witness has never been found
The three-year-old case was supposed to be heard by Milimani Chief magistrate Micheni Wendy, but it couldn’t since witnesses weren’t there.
In the case, Otieno is charged with Ishikunga Andre Kongolo alias Joseph, a Congolese national.
They are accused of stealing a shipment of 200 kg of gold worth Sh 56 million from Ibrahim Kostoeb Kostoev.
The two are accused of committing the offence on December 21, 2018, at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) Swiss Port office No. 223 in Nairobi, together with others who are not in court.
According to the prosecution, Kostoev visited Uganda in December and met a Congolese named Rajabu Pulush in Kampala who told him he could give him 50 kg of gold for $28,000.
Things went awry after Kostoev deposited a portion of the cash, and he was compelled to make an extra payment.
A quarrel then ensued , after which Kostiev was subsequently notified that the gold had been confiscated by Ugandans.
The matter will be mentioned again on December 14, 2022, for additional instructions.
