Alexander Muteshi Imbenzi is the Director General at the Directorate of Immigration and Citizen Services since 2018. Before joining Immigration, he was the Director of Counterterrorism with the National Intelligence Service.

Kenyans have raised concerns after the Immigration Department reportedly removed Category A Series (34 Pages) and B Series (50 pages) passports from the application system, forcing Kenyans to apply for Category C which is way more expensive.

When questioned, Director General Mr. Muteshi argues that the 34-page and 50-page passports have been exhausted and applicants must first deplete the remaining 66-page passports.

But here comes an interesting catch to the plot.

Despite charging Kenyans Sh7,550 for the C Series (66 pages) passport, some have complained about receiving the A Series (34 Pages) – the same one they claim to be out of stock – which goes for Sh4,550; a whooping difference of Sh3,000 which is pocketed by greedy officials.

“Hi Nyakundi,

I like the work that you do on this platform.

Kuna ukora inafanyika kule Immigration.

When you want to apply for a passport, you go to their portal where they give you only one option, of 66-page which is Sh7,550.

When you engage them, they tell you that they are out of stock of the 34-page passport, which is Sh4,550.

Sasa shida iko hapa.

Unalipa 64 pages because it is the only option kwa portal.

Time unaendea your passport, unapatiwa the 34-page passport yenye walikuwa wamesema it is out of stock.

Kindly follow up on this,” the source writes.
