A fact check has established that an explicit video purporting to show a Kenyan woman breastfeeding her employer’s dogs in Saudia Arabia was inaccurate.

An assessment of the 25-second clip which was displayed on LIVE TV by COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli on Sunday afternoon confirms it was drawn from an adult site and then manipulated to include a fake voice-over of a Kenyan woman crying for help.

The misleading footage was originally uploaded on Luxure TV, a pornography site, under the category of “bestiality”.

In his move that risked soiling Kenya’s diplomatic ties with Saudi Arabia, Atwoli falsely claimed that the lady had left her home, her husband and her two-month-old baby in search of greener pastures in the gulf, where she faced mistreatment.

The unionist proclaimed that President Ruto’s government should negotiate with the government of Saudi Arabia on terms and conditions of service, be it in Qatar or anywhere in the Middle East.

He also called for the ban of all employment agencies from brokering job opportunities in foreign countries.

Cases of Kenyan migrant workers being mistreated in Saudi Arabia have been on the rise in recent days, with lucky ones returning home successfully.

Due to few opportunities at home, many see working in Arab countries as a ticket out of poverty in a country where about 40% of our population lives below the poverty line.

But Kenya’s Foreign Ministry does very little to protect the helpless workers.

It is a dereliction of their duty to keep sending unskilled workers to the Gulf to earn a meagre pay which one can earn doing the same job in Kenya.

At least 100,000 Kenyans work in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, most as domestic workers or doing other menial jobs.
