Anguished patients now accuse the administration at Nyeri Provincial General Hospital (PGH) of running a money-making scheme that is milking them dry.
Writing to this blog on Thursday, October 6, a concerned Kenyan lamented of encountering underwhelming services at the government funded facility that seems to be run by greedy crooks.
The source informed us that over the past few weeks, the medics at the hospital have been referring patients to a private infirmary to purchase to procure drugs and other supplementary services like scans and specimen tests.
They suspect top officials at Nyeri PGH are involved in the backdoor arrangement that benefits a specific clinic.
This is turning out to be quite a painful and costly thorn to bear, since these services should essentially be available in-house at every government hospital.
“Hello Nakundi.
Can you please alert the Minister of Health and tell them to go and audit Nyeri PGH Hospital?
The place is so messed up.
Wagojwa wanatumwa nje kununua dawa.
Tell Mutahi Kahiga atembee huko akiwa chini ya maji.
If one is admitted, you are sent outside the hospital to buy medicine.
With the lab test, you too have to take the specimen outside, of which is wrong as they have everything within the hospital.
When sent out, you are directed to a specific facility, which shows there is a connection with both sides.
If one is required to take a CT scan, you pay 7k which is too much for a government hospital and that is too much for mwananchi wakawaida.
I am telling you, if auditors were to be sent there, you will be surprised,” the source says.
