Former prime-time TV news anchor Jacque Maribe has landed a senior government post in the Office of the Deputy President of Kenya.
Circulating media reports say that Ms Maribe has been lobbying for the Director of Communications role, and has been in charge of matters to do with DP Rigathi Gachagua’s media presence for the past few weeks.
This basically entails organizing radio and TV interviews, as well as handling what becomes public from his office.
The position had remained vacant despite DP Gachagua inheriting some of the communication team members who previously served President William Ruto.
Taking to her Instagram stories on September 25, Jacque heartily received congratulatory messages from friends and followers, noting that all this was the work of God.
She quoted Isaiah 60:22 which says: “The least one shall become a clan, and the smallest one a mighty nation; I am the Lord and in its time I will hasten it.”
Her appointment follows many months out in the cold that saw her result in holding interviews with newsmakers on YouTube.
This was after her exit from the Citizen TV job in 2019, while at the peak of her career.
Her resignation came in the wake of being charged alongside her ex-fiance, Joseph Jowie Irungu, for the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani.
Irungu was the main suspect, while Maribe was charged for helping him cover up the murder.
At the time, her role at Citizen TV slowly changed, and she was barred from reading prime-time news before she completely disappeared from the screens.
