An employee contracted as a recovery officer at Mwananchi Credit Limited has raised claims of assault against the company’s CEO, Mr Dennis Mombo.
Writing to this blog on Sunday, 4th September 2022, the staffer identified as Daniel Kimuyu narrated how he normally reported to duty on Monday 1st August 2022, only for things to turn ugly after his own boss unleashed violence upon him over a job-related misunderstanding.
During the dramatic event that began as a minor altercation, Mr Mombo summoned the building’s security guards, who kept watch and ensured the victim could not escape the room.
He strongly reprimanded Mr Kimuyu for allegedly involving brokers during a recent auction exercise without his supposed permission.
But as the victim explains, the charges were groundless, because the credit firm allows the involvement of brokers to look for buyers on their behalf.
Below is what the source had to say.
“Hi, Nyakundi,
My Name is Daniel Kimuyu.
On Monday 1st August 2022, I reported to the office, Mwananchi Credit Limited, where I work as a Recovery Officer.
Around 8 a.m, I walked into the CEO’s office, Dennis Mombo, to brief him of an auction that had taken place on 29th July 2022 along Kiambu Road.
While explaining to him, he started complaining about the involvement of brokers in the auction process, which has been the normal way; where brokers look for buyers and sell vehicles on our behalf at our reserved and approved price.
He rose from his desk, called in a bodyguard and immediately started punching me while positioning himself at the door such that I can’t escape.
After the bodyguard separated us, he went back into his seat and called two DCI officers from Central Police Station.
They escorted me to Central Police Station Room 23 and held me there since morning.
The CEO came and wrote his statement and was given a P3 form.
I asked to be allowed to write my statement but was denied and the officers said they were under instructions from the CEO.
At around 4:30 PM, I was told the CEO had ordered my release.
I was released, but felt mishandled and denied justice.
I went and reported downstairs and was given OB.
On 2nd August 2022, I walked directly into DCIO officer Mr Mworia’s office, who complained that he was not aware of my case and all that had happened.
He called a different officer and directed her to have me record my statement and be issued with P3.
This was done, and I proceeded to Mama Lucy Hospital, where I was treated.
On 3rd August 2022, I went back to submit my P3 report.
I was told my case had been transferred to DCI Parliament to avoid a conflict of interest between the CEO and officers he usually uses from Central Police Station.
I proceeded to DCI Parliament where I was told to write the report again under investigation by officer Daniel Koipiri.
The CEO, on the other hand, sacked me by removing me from all company WhatsApp groups and closing my job email.
Am yet to get Justice or substantial information from any office on how my Justice will be assured.
Kindly I seek your intervention where possible.
Regards,
Daniel Kimuyu.”
