CAPTION: PSC Board Chairman Ambassador Anthony Mwaniki Muchiri

A concerned citizen has blown the whistle on how millions of taxpayers’ funds are sinking down the drain at the Public Service Commission (PSC) of Kenya.

Writing to this blog on Wednesday, July 13, a trusted insider within the government body disclosed how top PSC officials recently accepted to take part in a costly 10-day “training” trip hosted at a private hotel in Arusha, Tanzania.

The activity was organized by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and fully sponsored by the National Treasury.

Each participant received Sh. 1 million as per diem and a further Sh1 million was issued as imprest to cater for costs for the trip.

However, the greedy Chairman, all Commissioners, Secretary, and 3 Directors took advantage of the voyage to mint some quick extra cash by compromising immigration officials at the border to stamp in for different dates to account for their total days outside the country.

Once they were back, they hid away from the office till the training days lapsed.

“Dear Cyprian,

I wish to lodge a complaint about irregular use of public funds and abuse of office at the Public Service Commission

The Chairman, all Commissioners, Secretary, and 3 Directors at the commission went for a training organized by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and funded by the National Treasury via a special AIE and held at a private hotel in Arusha, Tanzania.

The training was scheduled to be for 10 days from June 21st to 30th but instead, they went on 21st June and came back on 25th June but some corrupted immigration officials at the border stamped in for different dates to account for their days for the alleged training.

This can be confirmed via their phone signals.

Once they were back, they hid away from the office till the training days lapsed.

They traveled in 3 GoK Prados and a van.

Each participant received Sh. 1 million as per diem and a further Sh1 million was issued as imprest to cater for costs for the trip.

This is absolute rot and disregard of the office held by the said officials of the public service commission and totally defies Chapter 6 of our Constitution.

A concerned citizen,” the source writes.
