Toyota Kenya Senior Management: Managing Director Arvinder Reel, Chief Operations Officer Joshua Anya and General Manager Andrew Omolo

As previous articles highlighting the mistreatment at Toyota Kenya continue to reverberate across the company’s corridors, more employees have boldly come out to uncover the massive rot perpetrated by its rogue management.

Adding to the information already piling up, an insider has divulged how top officials at the distributor have been engaging in illegal backroom dealings with suppliers linked to Managing Director Arvinder Reel.

The firms mentioned are mostly owned by his Indian friends and relatives.

They are offered disposed company vehicles at throwaway prices.

Confirming earlier claims of a toxic environment at the workplace, our source also lifted the lid on mistrust among jobholders attributed to the thriving culture of gossip intentionally sponsored by the administration to ensure they stay divided.

Promotions are either socially or sexually transmitted, based on one’s loyalty to the boss.

Those who refuse to abide by this skewed way of life are quickly labelled as rebels and punished by way of transfer.

Risk Manager Margaret Guandaru is said to be the MD’s main mole.

Her mere presence alone strikes fear down the spines of employees.

She has no room for dialogue; anyone she suspects of anything is immediately shown the door.

Human Resource Manager Adrian Stelzer has been described as a powerless “Yes Man” working under commands from the Senior Management.

He cares less about employees.

An issue has also been raised on the new racist French Finance Director who always looks down upon natives.

These unbearable conditions have made it impossible for the current jobholders at Toyota Kenya to work peacefully.

“Dear Nyakundi,

I would like to add to the ongoing Toyota Kenya expose.

The Senior Management engages in a lot of malpractices.

They dispose company vehicles to relatives and friends at less value.

They have dealings with suppliers or choose suppliers who they have an interest in or gain something from them.

Geminia Insurance, Satguru Travel, Kisumu concrete etc.

All these are Indian company where MD has a direct interest with.

Now on the culture of the company,

We work in a toxic environment.

The management thrives on gossip and because of that, it brings a lot of division in the workplace because if you don’t know who is snitching on you.

There is a complete lack of trust.

Promotions and rewards are done based on “Godfather” merit.

If you oppose any of the leadership decisions or processes or are vocal, you are marked as a rebel and placed in the black book.

You will be frustrated until you resign.

It could mean being transferred to a totally different department in a very far branch.

There is a risk manager called Margaret Guandaru, she is a hell of a manager.

Only interested to find fault in someone n ensuring they are sacked.

There is no room for mistakes, staff work under fear all the time.

No place for honest talks or even warning letters or performance evaluations.

She is the MD’s person and has been given powers to frustrate anyone she feels like.

HR is the worst department.

They are powerless and not independent.

They work on commands from senior management.

We stopped going for help from them cause they are all a cartel.

Department managers work under fear from senior managers hence can’t offer independent management.

There is a new French Finance Director who thinks Kenyans are incompetent, thick and talks to us how he wishes.

He looks down on us and doesn’t want to be questioned.

Working in this company has become unbearable, guys are simple drowning in depression.

In short, everyone here is looking for a way out.

It’s a bomb waiting to explode.

Keep me anonymous,” our source writes.

We urge more employees at the company to fearlessly come out and unearth deeper details of what is happening at their workplace.

This, we hope, will help trigger action from relevant authorities who are rumoured to be already pocketed by the suspects.

Their mouths are too full to speak, but ours are not.

We shall be keenly following this developing story with a view to publishing subsequent updates on how things pan out at the company.
