In the wake of high stinking corruption at the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA), Kenyans continue to lose important medical aid.
The government is corrupt and as such healthcare is taken over by private entities who don’t hesitate to fleece every coin from the pockets of wananchi.
In the fight agaisnt HIV/AIDS, the Ministry of Health (MOH) relies heavily on donor funding. One of the most important partners is USAID.
AMPATH helped spearhead USAID’s fight against HIV in western Kenya region which also include Luo-Nyanza. However, the corruption made it hard to continue and now, Cnyakundi.com has learnt that the task has fallen in the hands of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST.
A mole whispers that JOOUST has jeopardised the work
“Hello, Cyprian I wish to bring to your attention and that of MOH KENYA & of course the President a pertinent issue affecting roll out ya UHC, president’s legacy & the rate at which HIV is spreading or going undetected. There’s an organisation running HIV testing, counselling and adherence called JOOUST. It took over from PATH & AMPATH. This organisation has messed up the morale of frontline workers. It has been unable to pay it’s workers on time, HIV testing kits are not available, NHIF covers for their employees are not paid since December when JOOUST took over the project”, he wrote.
The concerned frontline healthworker asks the relevant authorities to kindly look into the above matter.
In 2021, KEMSA lost a Sh70 billion contract for procurement, warehousing and distribution of essential medical supplies from USAID in the wake of graft allegations at the state firm.
To understand the magnitude of the issue, AMPATH serves a population of up to 8 million people in western Kenya and: Delivers primary health care services in partnership with the Kenyan government.
The 8 million are now on their own.

Graft at the Ministry of Health and its subsequent agencies has put at risk the fight against malaria, tuberculosis and HIV.
Because by pulling out, USAID, PATH and AMPATH have put the controls back to the people that destroyed public health in the first place. People whose only goal is to loot and amass privitive wealth instead of looking at the greater good of all.
