Charles Chege: A customer that was beaten to death by Dejavu Lounge bouncers

Police are investigating a suspected homicide case reported at a popular entertainment joint within Westlands, Nairobi County.

The incident that took place on Saturday 5th March 2022, saw bouncers at the Dejavu Lounge along Rhapta Road brutally beating a customer to death.

The middle-aged victim identified as Charles Chege was accused of stealing a mobile phone from one of the revellers at the club.

When the alarm was raised, the rogue security guards immediately pounced on the gentleman and whiskered him away to a private room within the establishment.

It was from this room that they proceeded to mercilessly torture the victim for over 3 hours.

From a disturbing video currently circulating on social media, the group of bouncers can be seen kicking and hitting Mr Chege with all sorts of crude weapons.

Despite his endless cries for forgiveness, they relentlessly kept flogging the helpless man.

By the time they were done with their inhumane punishment, the father of three had already lost his life.

An autopsy report conducted on his body named his cause of death as multiple “multiple injuries due to blunt force trauma”.

Cover Up

Panic-stricken and with fresh blood on their hands, the Dejavu bouncers hurriedly roughed up the dead body and stashed at a nearby bush just a few metres from the club.

This was where police officers based at the Kilimani Sub-county police station discovered the body on the morning of Sunday 6th March 2022 and transferred it to City Mortuary.

On Monday, 7th March 2022, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrived at the club and arrested the manager, 2 bouncers as well as 5 other employees linked to the gruesome murder.

The eight are currently in custody as investigations into the matter continue.

Check out a video report of the incident below as acquired from K24 TV.
