The Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (KARI) has become the latest state organization to be targeted by hackers.

Ferrocious technophiles took control of KARI’s official website on Wednesday 1st December, 2021, and left a bunch of embarrasingly explicit banners across the hope page.

Those that tried to access KARI.org were greeted by the banners which contained embended links to various adult video sites.

Apart from adding the glaring porn adverts, the hackers did not seem to tamper with anything else on the website.

As of the publishing of this post, all other pages were functioning correctly.

This incident comes just seven days after yet another state agency faced trouble from unwanted intruders.

On Tuesday, November 24, 2021, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution’s (ODPP) official Facebook account was hacked.

The hackers renamed the Facebook account to “Fam Hâm Mộ Của QuanCon” and went forward to repost the tweet on the Facebook page shortly after the ODPP made the confirmation.

All these attacks have happened despite the government recently launching the National Computer and Cyber Crimes Co-ordination Committee (NCCCC) as part of its wider efforts to combat the rising cybercrime threats across the globe.

The NCCC is tasked with consolidating action on the detection, investigation and prosecution of cybercrimes.
