Ex board chair of the Kenya Medical Training Institute Prof. Philip Kaloki has thrown his hat into the Makueni Gubernatorial race.
Prof Kaloki who is the worst ever board chair of the nurses training institution was adversely mentioned in many corruption scandals and now seeks to wipe the slate clean by re-joining politics.
Most corrupt men in Kenya join politics after looting so as to have a cover to avoid prison. Prof Kaloki served as MP for Kibwezi Constituency.
In November 2020, the Inspectorate of State Corporations (ISC) launched investigations into the wisepread reports of corruption at the KMTC.
ISC investigations which specifically targeted the board, sought to look into reports of abuse of office, misuse of college property, illegal recruitment and corruption by the KMTC Board.

The October 8, 2020 letter by the Inspectorate of State Corporations to KMTC chief executive Michael Kiptoo demanded that the board account for its expenditure.
Cnyakundi.com had in mid 2020 covered how the board chair Kaloki is only intent on rewarding cronies who don’t have anything to show for their qualification other than friendship.
A year ago, a Sh7 billion dispute between the board and management existed. The money is what the college collects from students as fees and money from donors every year.
According to local media, the management felt the board interfered with the day-to-day running of the institution.
Prof Kaloki’s mistress, Dr Miriam Ndunge Muthoka, who is also a staff at KMTC, was also investigated for irregular appointment as company secretary on November 13, 2015.
“The commission is carrying out an investigation into allegations of irregular appointment of Dr Miriam Ndunge Muthoka,” says an October 15 letter sent by the commission to the KMTC Board.
KMTC board dismissed the investigations as normal but that is far from the truth. Prof Kaloki now wants to protect his lot through political immunity.
