Kilimani Mums Uncensored Facebook Group Founder Dies

Leah Wangari Gatonye, the founder of Kilimani Mums Uncensored Facebook group has passed on after she was involved in an accident, Mwakilishi news, a blog that focusses on diaspora news has reported.

According to the blog post, Wangari was involved in a road crash on Red Cedar Street at around 2 pm on August 1st and was arrested by officers from Bluffton Police Department then charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and child endangerment.

” She was booked in Beaufort County Detention Center where a nurse determined that she needed to go to the hospital. Beaufort County spokesperson Chris Ophardt said that staff at the emergency room at Beaufort Memorial Hospital cleared Wangari, and she was taken back to the jail. ” adds the blog-post.

” The following morning, a jail guard found Wangari on the floor of the holding cell and discovered she was coughing up blood. She was rushed to Beaufort Memorial Hospital before being flown to MUSC where she later died from injuries believed to stem from the crash.

Wangari was the secretary of the Kenyan Diaspora Foundation and was very active on social media.

Wangari was 41 years old and the founder of the dreaded Kilimani mums group that was suspended by Facebook, the masters of the universe that declared war on various groups in Kenya.

In 2016, she shared on the group a letter by her daughter urging her to quit drinking alcohol. Wangari admitted that she would be dead were it not for her daughter’s advice, saying one year, two months had passed without alcohol since the girl penned the letter.

Many Facebook groups that were vocal and used to bring Kenyans together were brought down by the social media giant, the latest being Buyer Beware group that was suspended a few days ago.
