FAZUL MOHAMED, CEO, Private Security and Regulatory Authority (PSRA)

The Chief Executive Officer of Private Security and Regulatory Authority (PSRA) Mr Fazul Mohamed is on the spot for extortionist ways.

The former NGO Board boss had in December 2019 announced a mandatory vetting of all private security firms in the country.

According to sources, every security firm applied and complied with the requirements but up to date the authority is yet to issue certificates to companies.

“Not a single one has been issued with the certificate and the way the matter was urgent’, said a source who did not wish to be named.

“I hear by end of this July 2021, he will release the list of companies that were vetted and approved for operations. What took him so long?,” the source added.

In 2017, Kenya Human Rights Commission accused the government of protecting Fazul Mohamed; allowing him to run NGOs board with forged academic papers and in breach of law.

Cnyakundi.com has learned that the process took so long because of corruption.

“Mr. Fazul through proxies is demanding for a bribe ranging from Sh1million to Sh10million depending on the size of your firm. Only firms who greased Fazul’s hands will be allowed to operate from August this year”, the source said.

“Fazul enjoys the protection of people high up in the Interior Ministry, and nothing can be done about him but at least let the public know about his insatiable greed”, the source complained.

It should be noted that while at the NGO Coordination Board, Fazul conducted a similar vetting process; and organisations were forced to pay bribes or risk losing their licenses.

He is replicating the same at PSRA.
