CAPTION: ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and LSK President Nelson Havi

Outspoken ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna is this week back among the topics trending on social media.

This is after the unapologetically abrasive lawyer sent out a low blow to his fellow learned friend and Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Chairman Nelson Havi during a heated Twitter exchange on Monday night.

The brutal war of words began when Sifuna responded to a news report which claimed Havi allegedly injured LSK CEO Mercy Wambua at their Gatanga Road-based offices.

He condemned the act terming an embarrassment and unbecoming behaviour that should never be witnessed from someone of Havi’s status.

He further called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to take on the matter, alleging Havi admitted to having committed the act on camera.

“Nelson Havi has already admitted to the assault on camera. I wonder what the DCI and police are waiting for,” he tweeted.

In a quick rejoinder, Havi shot back at Sifuna, claiming that if he was a violent person, he would have ensured the ODM Secretary-General faced his full wrath on the 18th of January 2021.

This was in regards to a chaotic meeting earlier in the year that saw two opposing camps clash over the leadership of the society during a special session held at LSK’s head office along Gatanga Road in Nairobi.

Sifuna, who was been one of Havi’s fiercest critics stormed the meeting that day and vouched for the ouster of the 49th president of the LSK on grounds that he had failed to show leadership.

“Edwin Sifuna, if I was violent, wewe ungefinywa on 18-1-2021. Acha ujinga ndugu!” Havi wrote back.

In retaliation to the nasty statement, Sifuna declared it was a challenge he would relish since it would offer him an opportunity to help Havi break his soft voice by a punch to his throat.

“I wish you tried. I Would love to punch you in the throat and finally break that voice for you,” he replied, sending his supporters into a frenzy.

True to Sifuna’s words, LSK president Nelson Havi could face assault charges for allegedly injured Ms Wambua during the said Monday meeting.

According to a police report at Muthangari station under OB number is 34/12/7/2021, Wambua reported her right arm and finger were hurt during a scuffle that erupted during the heated meeting.

This comes in the backdrop of a fierce war of words that had erupted between Havi and Wambua barely two days ago.

The leadership wrangles within the society publicly soared last Friday after Havi called out Wambua for preventing plans for a planned audit on the use of allocated funds.

Havi Wambua of being in office illegally and colluding with financial institutions to deny members statements of expenditure.

The LSK President further claimed that Wambua failed to alter signatories to banks in which accounts of the society are registered.
