Constable Festus Musyoka, one of the three victims of last Friday’s shooting incident at Quiver’s Lounge along Thika Road has died.
The police officer who was attached to Starehe police station had been undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Hospital over the weekend.
Officer Musyoka sustained a serious shot on his neck which left him in critical condition.
Earlier in the day, the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP), through State Counsel Evelyne Onunga, revealed that the other victims of the shooting, namely, Constable Lawrence Muturi and waitress Felistas Nzisa had been discharged from the hospital.
The two had sustained arm and abdomen injuries respectively.
While hearing the case, Milimani Law Courts Magistrate Zainab Abdul allowed police to continue holding the main suspect of the shooting incident, Dickson Njanja Mararo for 7 days in order to allow for completion of investigations.
In the ruling, Zainab Abdul granted the police a week to detain Njanja at Muthaiga police station to enable police to complete the probe in the matter.
Police had sought 14 days to detain the suspect to enable them to record statements, retrieve CCTV footage and prepare a cyber-forensic report.
The accused is alleged to have shot and injured the officers following an altercation over a woman.
The court heard that a Glock semi-automatic pistol and 38 rounds of 9mm ammunition were recovered from the suspect.
The matter was set for mention on July 15, 2021.
