Last Saturday morning @5am my friend Stone, a fellow jogger walked right into the 6feet open ditch (below)around Precious Blood Riruta on his way to exercise along the pedestrians pathway that was recently done by Nairobi Metropolitan Services. There was nothing to alert or warn him of the wide gaping hole.

Two other passersby saw him fall into it but for some reason did not assist, he pulled himself out, albeit with a lot of pain.
He tried to run but realized his right ankle was swollen and he was in lots of pain so he walked slowly back home.

After some rest he went out his duties but at 10am after taking some tea he felt a sharp pain on his left abdomen. He took some painkillers like what most of us do but did not help much.

Later on at 1pm he started sweating profusely and had nausea and headaches, that’s when he rushed to Nrb hospital for examination.

Whilst there he fainted twice, that’s when he was taken for chest X ray and MRI. The doctors still couldn’t figure why he was fainting and recommended that he goes for CT scan. That’s when they noted lots of fluids piling in his lower abdomen.

He was taken for surgery the same night @10pm and they found that his spleen had ruptured totally as a result of the fall and this was the cause of the bleeding and fainting.
They then had to remove the whole spleen so was operated on immediately.

As you walk along that path there is absolutely nothing to warn you. It is indeed a black spot.

The doc said that he could have easily passed on if he wasn’t that fit.
His leg muscles could withstand the high fall pressure but his internal organs couldn’t.

The rupture/tear missed his liver by a tiny margin.

We thank God Stone is alive today.
