President of the United States Donald Trump has, through Pentagon, exposed that China may soon have a military base in Kenya.
Last week, Pentagon released an exclusive report detailing how Beijing has been in ‘frequent’ talks with Nairobi towards setting up a Chinese military logistics base.
“The PRC (Peoples Republic of China) has likely considered Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates, Kenya, Seychelles, Tanzania, Angola, and Tajikistan as locations for PLA (People’s Liberation Army) military logistics facilities,” said the Pentagon in its annual “China Military Power” report to Congress.
According to the report, China is set to expand, build and sustain its military power around the world with Kenya and neighbouring Tanzania bases marked as pilot projects— (I should inform you that China currently operates her military bases in Djibouti and Zambia-because of huge unserviced foreign debts)
By the time of publishing this article, neither Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) nor the Defense Ministry had responded to our request for comment about the report.
Pentagon says Beijing’s goal is to leverage its new military might to achieve its foreign-policy objectives and to assert itself globally.
“The PRC has probably already made overtures to Namibia, Vanuatu, and the Solomon Islands. Known focus areas of PLA planning are along the SLOCs (Sea lines of communication) from China to the Strait of Hormuz, Africa, and the Pacific Islands,” said the report.
China’s reported military ambitions come amid it’s plans to implement the One Belt, One Road (OBOR) initiative that aims to further trade with African countries including Kenya.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has been funding billions of shillings worth of infrastructure in Kenya via debt under the initiative, like the 2013 White elephant SGR line between Nairobi and Mombasa.
While Jubilee keeps on borrowing to supplement the unquenchable looting stomachs in its administration, Kenya is at the edge, if not yet already swallowed in, of being saddled with unpayable debts to Beijing.
While advisers and politrick-tians mislead the President with useless and baseless political ideas Kenyan economy is being face punched as it bleeds on projects built largely with Chinese labour.
Astonishingly, while its evident that all these “mega” projects keep on making loses, President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government has maintained that borrowing to build them will spur economic growth and development. How now?
As we speak, China has a fulltime, fully equipped Chinese military base in Djibouti. Chinese Navy Marines are deployed at the base, along with armoured vehicles and artillery support.
Some international independent blogs alleged that its from this base that Chinese military personnels set, lay traps and plans to attack Indian Militaries.
Someone close to President President Uhuru Kenyatta should tell him that Kenyans gave him a chance to be the Commander in Chief of the Kenyan Armed Forces not a lieutenant of the Chinese Military.
Someone should tell President Uhuru that Kenyans are fade up with unending political tensions. The president should stop dedicating his time to political ideologies whose sole purpose is to sodomize our constitution.
Reggae music brings the people back to their original culture of peace, love and harmony- Someone should play the President the right reggea and make sure he peruses through the contracts he signed with Beijing.
This shit is real. Kenyans should be more worried about Beijing’s geopolitical ambitions overseas.
