The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has given Kenyans stranded in India  another opportunity to fly back home.

The Kenyan High Commission in India’s capital, New Delhi is compiling details of the Kenyans who want to return home following the extension of Covid-19 related restrictions on international flights in and out of India to 1st September, 2020.

Kenya has arranged for the repatriation of citizens who were stranded in India due to lockdown and ban of international flights due to the Covid-19 pandemic in the months of May, June and July.

High Commissioner Willy Bett on monday notified all Kenyans stranded in India who would wish to return to Kenya to compile and submit their information before India opens its airspace in September.

“Submit a list containing your names, passport numbers and telephone contacts to Kenya High Commission in New Delhi through email: visa@kenyahicom-delhi.com by end of business on August 12, 2020,” Amb. Bett said.
The embassy needs the details to shape their next course as they seek avenues to help kenya fly back. They have upto August 12 to submit their details.

Bett also advised Kenyans in India to join virtual groups and notify this mission of their nominated representatives to make the process easier.

The development comes after Kenya opened its airspace to international flights with conditions to be met before travelling to Kenya.

Any person flying into Kenya must have tested and obtained Covid-19 Negative certificate within seven days before traveling. The person must also be ready to undergo a 14-day mandatory quarantine period imposed by the Government of Kenya upon landing in Nairobi.

Kenya has managed to repatriate more than 1,000 people through two KQ flights and three Vande Bharat Mission (Air India) flights.
