Kenya looks like a country for foreigners, where 95 per cent of things are done to please outsiders.

The once powerful immigration Department is now a rubber stamp for impunity and with runaway unemployment, Kenyans still can’t get a break from the govt putting foreigners on the forefront.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) branch in Kenya has advertised a position that requires applications from ‘US Citizens Only’.

The EXO Logistics & Operations Specialist a GS 12 grade work is so junior and doesn’t require any specialist from outside Kenya.

Turns out that in June 2020, USAID staff write a letter to its senior managers complaining about systemic racism.

“We are proud of our work overseas to prevent violence, encourage security sector reform, and promote democracy and good governance in countries with deep ethnic and religious divisions. Yet USAID’s credibility and effectiveness abroad are undermined by systemic racism and injustice at home,” NBC, a US News media reported.

“Kenyans are watching closely,”

Illegality has become the norm

This has become the norm in Kenya.

Despite the Immigration Act that prohibits foreigners from taking up jobs that can be done by Kenyans, the govt has ignored the numerous complaints that Kenya send concerning this.

For jobs that Kenyans cannot do, i.e. there’s no specialist, the law says that a foreigner can come for a period of two years, train Kenyans during that time and leave.

Shoe maker Bata Kenya has been accused of bringing in foreigners from India to take up jobs that Kenyans can easily do.

Blowplast Limited, the award winning through bribing Indian slave factory has a couple of foreigners working in it.

The case of Bowmans law firm is a recent one. Bowmans also referred to as Coulson Harney LLP, Advocates (South Africa), was accused of racial discrimination and bad work practices mostly targeting black Kenyan staff.

The discrimination against Kenyans has bread impunity that has emboldened other firms; some briefcase ‘international’ firms operating in Kenya have even replaced their Kenya staff with whites.

The govt doesn’t care but Kenyans do.
