Patrick Rading Ambogo(right) and Janet Magoma Ayonga are accused of unauthorized interception of computer data contrary to section 17 (1) of the Computer Misuse and Cyber Crime Act.

The founder of Kenya Revolutionary Front (KRF) lawyer Miguna Miguna has defended the duo that took and distributed a CCTV footage of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga touring Nairobi CBD at night on 2nd June 2020.

Miguna says the order to arrest and charge them is wrong.

“Patrick Rading’ and Janet Magoma are national heroes who took pictures of 2 drunkards breaking the curfew in Nairobi’s CBD – a curfew they have imposed on Kenyans. Their “tour” was itself a security risk. They could be robbers or assassins. UhuruMust Go”, he wrote.

The two, Patrick Rading and Janet Magoma, as earlier reported were charged under the draconian law, Computer Misuse and Cyber Crimes Act. They were arraigned at Milimani law courts and are out on bail of Sh10,000 each.

The two ICT officers are also said to have been sacked by their employer, Sarova Stanley after their arrest on 6th June 2020.

Miguna, a lawyer who is based in Canada following forcefully removal from Kenya in 2018, after his stance against injustice, gave an example of France where the former president François Hollande was caught on film answering a call from a prostitute and the photographer wasn’t arrested.

“Six years ago, French President François Hollande was photographed perched on a motorcycle as he went for a “booty call” in Paris. The photographer made millions of dollars on his PRIZED IMAGE which trended all over the world. No arrests or trumped-up charges”, he continued, then added, “If you don’t want to be photographed or videotaped in compromising situations, stay at home, zip up and obey all the laws that other citizens obey. No one is above the law. Kenyans are forced to pay billions annually for your security. Patriots: take more images!”

The lawyer appearing for the duo have asked for statements from president Uhuru and former Prime Minister Raila so as to know if ‘indeed they captured them, at this time of the night’.

The case will be heard on July 2nd 2020

Apart from Miguna, other Kenyans also came to their defence.
